History and Origins:
The Amalgamation was a union of India and China in 2067 to further develop and integrate their combined research in space colonization. This was their solution to the pandemic that was overpopulation that swept both nations in the 21st century.

The Amalgamation soon colonized The Moon and Mars, transferring thousands of people from to the new frontiers of space. Soon other nations joined the alliance, and helped jettison the success of the project. By 2100 over 3.5 million people lived outside of Earth.

A large influx of settlers migrated across the Milky Way Galaxy in the 2140s with the advent of faster-than-light travel. The Amalgamation proclaimed all land outside the Solar System to be territories of their alliance, and not partner states. This meant there was no elections or free press outside Solar Space.

The Galaxy was petitioned into twelve slices, each a representative of their constellation. In 2167 the Aries Constellation seceded from the Amalgamation. A civil war unfolded, and the governments of Earth united into a singular entity to defend themselves from the larger threat.
In 2176 the uprisings were crushed, and a new government was established.

The Treaty of Touchdown signed in 2176 granted the Twelve constellations semi-autonomy in the form of ‘sector’ status. The Solar System was admitted as a thirteenth sector.

The current flag represents the 13 sectors, with the Solar System in the center of the radial star pattern. The color scheme and canton design is inspired from L. L. Zamenhof’s Esperanto flag, a conceptual language invented in the 19th century intended to eliminate the boundaries of language. It is the de jure language of Amalgamation, spoken commonly in the constellations, but less popular in the Solar System.

The Heart War:
The expansion of mankind frightened the developed and peace-loving Heart-men, an alliance of alien races situated around the Galactic Core. This war was in conjunction with the Aries Uprising, and sequentially the exchange in government. The Aries Sector’s oppression and pillaging of local alien races was distasteful to both factions.

During the peace talks of 2183 the Heart-Lands recognized the Amalgamation as the government of Humanity, and a demilitarized zone was established. Mankind was granted a plot of the galaxy for colonization. Any further expansion would result in another full-out war.

Since then Humanity and Heart-men affiliates have greatly detested one-another. The DMZ has become a territory largely inhabited by convicts from both nations attempting to escape prosecution, with national authorities unauthorized into the region. It has since become an epicenter for crime and havoc.
