The two Lovers/The Rose finch’s Lament

On a ivy bed there two lovers lie,

On a bed of ivy there two lovers die

The moss is colored red with blood,

And wet with thousand tears
And every bird cries a dirge for all that will hear,

The trees they mourn with tears that fall
In gold and red and brown,

Still as fallen leafs they lie
Bound with ivy chains,

But snow shall melt
And strains of passion,

Shall turn all ashen hearts,
And all the fear and ache will forever depart.
