I've really got to dissagree with the above about this being a bland piece. I don't think I've seen better composition in a black & white photograph. Ever. I'm rather dissapointed in myself, because I can't think of any way to improve this piece. I think color would ruin it, I think the balance of light & contrast is impecable, & the use of the depth of field is dynamic (certainly not underused). The only thing I could say is that I hope you would maybe show some other shots from the same trip (& since I haven't been to your gallery yet, I can't know if you have or not)

First off i would like to commend you on your statement of wanting to be known. I must agree with you on this. So to help you i will try to give you any advice i can on this photo.
Let's see. I cant help but think that this photo is a little bland. Yes, i do believe ships are interesting, but i think you could've maybe took a shot of the mast flowing in the wind or something more dynamic. But to help this particular photo, i would say maybe you could blur out the farther away areas more so you can make your focal point stand out even more.
Anyway, play around with shots like these some more. I hope i helped, and good luck in the future.
