Butterfly

A hand-full of ecstatic movements
Precariously perched on your finger tip
Trembling silky satin wings of powder
Uncovering and covering explosions of colours
Leaving a dusty rainbow on your skin
As a colourful reminder of fragile beauty
When with a silent folding of its wings
The light on earth is extinguished
And after spreading them widely
It's disappearing swiftly.

An abandoned heavenly creature
With the dawn in a dew drop on the wings
With the night reflecting the fantastic colours
And the queen of flowers offering shelter
Bravely resisting so many unforeseen dangers
Risking being crushed beneath destiny's hand
By preening and presenting itself in the glowing sun
So as to become an object of your interest
Even an object of desire in a collector's eyes
And a fairy in so many children's dreams.

Flying determinedly into a candle's flame
Blind within its self-destroying love for light
Tiny flower elfins during daytime
Busily collecting nature's treasures
Ghostly greyish miniature vampires
Darkening the moon with huge little wings
A feast of shining colours and sacrifices
A rainbow-like delight for your eyes
And a feather-like softness on your skin
With wings full of fatal expressions.
