Description
here is a new version that i used in the draw this again contestThe first one can be found in my gallery
about my feeling I think that's a pretty good shot then you judge...
In this one Theseus use one of the horn of Asterion (the minotaur) to stab him in the neck. Then it's not sure if this is a fatal blow.

Fascinating... I would try to give an interpretation:
fire on the left (i.e., the bad side) and wild nature on the right... tauromachia as killing of our ancestral nature with the demon of technology (fire). What do you think?

that's pretty much it..
Will you also draw Theseus beating the Cretan Bull?

So, you are suggesting that after beating the son, he will beat also the father. Good idea. Maybe.

I checked and apparently the most accepted version is with the old lady, tho, it was a challenge she had issued him because she was a very playful old lady.. 16 Years old Theseus went to confront the bull, dominated it and drove it through the streets Herakles-style! then he sacrificed it to the gods.. since it was for a steer sacrifice (the panathenean hecatomb), he may also have castrated it, surely with his bare hands..
I think you would learn a bunch of stuff RPing with me lol
Anyway if you're interested in drawing the fight, I would like a collaboration with you.. I draw bulls really really well

I think he beat the father first, like as a way to prove his valor so that he could meet with Aegeus, of course he wasn't supposed to succeed and it was a plan hatched by Medea to get rid of him..
He beat the cretan bull into submission and slaughter it on the shrine for the glory of Zeus during the ritual of the Hecatomb..
another version says he took pity of an old woman who offered him shelter when he travelled towards Athen, she had nothing to give the gods before her demise and thus as a payment for her hospitality he went to challenge the fearsome beast that was rampaging the fields and beat it up into submission enough for it to be slaughtered by an old lady.. However when he got back to offer her the bull, she was dead and he entered Athen with the bull and slaughtered it himself which earned him the right to see the king and the attention of Medea and the palantides..

Absolutely perfect! But it makes the Minotaur look like the innocent victim and Theseus a badass boy who slaughters the defenseless creature like a sacrificial lamb.

thanks that was the intention..
it's a very old piece though so I cannot accept the "absolutely perfect" compliment
well it's not like I could accept it now or any time soon I guess

you're not that bad too
you just have to work the swiftness in anatomy
your figures are in most case pretty stiff but it's something typical for people who draw a lot means of transport and generally things that are not alive nor natural (in your case boats)
I have a friend , he draws a lot of cars and his figures really look like yours.
I am sorry if i'd been rude this really wasn't mean too, I am bad for compliments.

glad you like it especially because it's you
you know what I mean... skifi is the most awesome bull footballer ever.
and about my style, currently I am drawing a lot of minotaur, I started drawing with minotaur when I was a child so I decide to finally find my own style only by drawing minotaur and waiting for the good shot I know it's weird (x'D) but its actually work, my anatomy skill is evolving into something much more cartoony.
PS don't take my last deviation(the drawing not the picture of course) as an example it's an experiment (and I don't like it).

skifi In reply to DevilAntRat [2013-02-25 18:51:47 +0000 UTC]
If we didn't try an experiment from time to time, we would never evolve our style, or improve. For each 10 tries, we will like one, or none, so don't worry ;D
And the cartoony style is as good as more anatomical one, just let it flow... and give other characters a try ;D
BTW, I haven't played soccer in months *misses it*

im loving the Minotaur's pose, it reminds me of a american footballer about to charge, it really engenders the feeling of moment in the piece.

thanks this was my first painting piece ever whereon I really focused on the painting instead on the drawing So I m glad you say that the pose is cool because i rushed it in 25 minutes
