I have actually done battle scenes with the subs, but none came out as effectively as I wanted so I never put them up, however, if your interested Ill stick some up in the scraps section.

I see balistic launch clusters and a couple of light turrets but where's the torpedo tubes?

Theres four of them you can only see two in the picture, there those slab light light coloured areas around the front cone, they look different because they have to be heavily armoured and reinforced to fire SC torpedoes through the SuperCav bubble!

Ah, I see, still only four? Most modern attack subs have 10 to 28 tubes.

Ah sorry, there is also the main turret mounted in front of the bridge, hard to see due to colouring!

Well, I'll try and get over the user interface, I'd like to use Maya because of the amount its used in the gaming industry.

maya is actually less used in the industry than either lightwave or 3ds max. another one that is gaining momentum rapidly is Modo, all of which i would recommend over maya...because they all make sense in the UI setup
i jsut started tinkering with cinema 4d, and it seems pretty friendly as well.

it's hardly obsolete...it simply isnt the most heavily used for games. maya get's assload's of use in film, its a damn powerful app, it's simply very user unfriendly

Hmm, ok then well, I use View de Esprte for putting everything together with backgrounds, i was really looking for a builder program..

i keep hearing really good things about vue
max has one of the most straitforward UI's i have ever seen, all of the tools can be quickly found, and once learned make for a very fast workflow. additionally the edit poly mode offers some very serriously helpful tools in terms of polygon efficiency

Vue is very good, earlier ones had export problems.. but I think that been taken care of now.. well.. looks like Max might be a possibility now, since that does seem to be an industrial standard.

one of hte other nice things about max is that it has a pretty damn diverse export list

Yeah, that is true, a lot of 3D programs seem to use .3DS as a basic standard.
well its settled then, I'l ltry my hand at Max.
(and there I was wanting to Mod Homeworld 2)
