Description body image can really haunt a person - regardless of the reality of the mirror - they see what they feel. regardless of the reality of kind words of others - they see what the the unkind say. regardless of it was "then" - for them, it may be constant. the word fat ought to be considered a "bad" word like cussing from the early stages of life. words scar - images are formed very early in life - i hope you've recovered from yours if ever had a negative body image issue and if you still do - love yourself, hug yourself, touch yourself often and know that you are more than your waistline or what your grandmother said about you as a child

you get the idea........

Strong image. Β Great reminder. Β  Β My husband tells me I'm beautiful all the time, but I struggle with believing him because I've had terrible body image issues my whole life. Β I'm working on choosing to believe him! Β

I really like this photo. It is simple yet thought provoking. I would agree with other comments that it seems a bit altered and airbrushed but that is the artists choice, nor ours. Overall I think it is a beautiful piece and I thank you for sharing.

This image seems too altered and plain for my tastes, but I thought your description and goal/concept was beautiful. I wonder if you could be willing to do this again. It's a nice theme...You could take a picture of your child with measuring tape in his hands, and his arms outstretched with the words: "I love you this much" or you could take a picture with scales and the tummy, you know? What do you think?

i think its a personal image and works - i think the fact the model is facing the wall appears to show a sense of shame or uneasiness and the simplicity and nudity show a real solidarity

Really? I think it's too plain. I can't even see her wrinkles which is one of the most lovely things about being human, or overweight. This just seems too airbrushed & phoney too me. I liked the crack, and the feet though. Or at least the ankle parts

this touch a diffuclt subject for a lot of people.
the photo itself is well done and conveys the message. I love how the legs look small under the table like all what above doesn't relate to the reality which we see under the table.

A most excellent sentiment, one that touches to the core of what we are, and how the very sense of self is so often shaped by the words and images around us.

It is, in its simplicity, a beautiful image you have placed before us.

This is so, so true. As someone who's struggled with my weight all my life, I know how hard it is to accept my body as it is. I think I have got to that point, fat rolls and all. I try to love myself, hug myself and touch myself often. Learning to love yourself is hard, but it is worth it.

As for the photo, I love the contrast of curves to straight lines, and light to dark. It really brings out the beauty of the body.
