Description needless to say, when i stumbled across this guy hanging out on my milkweed plant today, i RAN to get my camera

i shot with the slr and it came out nicely - but i HAD to use my super macro of the point and shoot to see what i could get - check him out!

this is one layer blend, soft light mode, about 60% opacity

nothing else, zero color play, a TAD level play on the dark side and that's it

i have an even closer one of his face that i'll post tomorrow but i swear to god if you hadn't seen this first you'd think it was fabricated

love all the detail on the milkweed too - and how he's like sooo green (again, only a TAD in level play and zero color play) and then like clear cellophane everywhere else with those black spiny things

man i had fun in the garden today

full view and check out his face and details

mary

super macro on the pentax for this one

(and no - he was not from that web posted earlier today, i found him on the milkweed)

you know - i know - it's one that specifically hunts monarch butterflies-and the plant it's on is a milkweed that attracts the caterpillars that turn into monarchs - i'll look it up -but yeah -it kicks ass doesn't it

I must say - I can appreciate his beauty... how green he is, the amount of detail in his body, and the way I think his spikes allow him to live nicely on this milkweed... but at the same time - He is soo scary. Scarier I think that a big fat hairy spider... brrr!!

It looks as if we have the same spider. I have several growing in my rose bush. Great shots! I have several photos that I have taken over the summer of the same type of spider. Please take a look at my gallery and tell me what you think. Thanks..........................

You did a great job there! Good thing about compact camera macro is that you get a large depth of field, wich is quite handy. Thanks for sharing that lovely little creep

Impressive to say the least. That's a mean looking critter, but you gotta love the colors and the lighting. Excellent sharpness and nice DOF. The home run is how you were able to capture the translucence of the spider's legs. Amazing....

thank you - i give a lot of credit to the fact he was in shade avoiding harsh direct sunlight but still enough natural light, the killer super macro mode on that pentax and the fact that he remained motionless for me - all those factors really helped me get it.

actually i think i would be running.
no camera.
running. periodo

anyway, it's a wonderful capture, perfect in every detail. you did a great job.

macro is the one thing that compact cameras do better than SLRs, unless you're willing to spend 8/900$ for a dedicated macro lens
