this is from a shoot done last Halloween - and I'm gearing up for this year's shoot with these same kids for the same Holiday coming up in another month or so. looking through last year's images i decided to do some work no this one and submit it - i just love their makeup and costumes and the details we all went to the trouble for- of course i wish i'd not cut off the tips of their feet
anyway - we were going for a Les Miserables look that year -living dead or just a dark look for children that was still fun for them. they loved it - now -
what WILL we do this year?

oh yea - i'm putting this in concept b/c it was not just a portrait - we had the concept of halloween children, etc.

I got an I idea, from the title most likely, but also from the costumes, that what about this year a Labirynth(this is probably spelled wrong) theme. have the girl as sarah and the boy as jareth, then again it would be a bit simularish looking to this one

this pictures great! I love their poses they are classic. That looks like a cool cemetary too.. I would love to live near a "classic" cemetary like that .Around here they are just large lawns with little plaques in the ground..not very spooky. good job though on this shot.

haha! i really love this! i dunno what kind of mood it was supposed to create, but it's very light and fun for me. halloween is my very favorite holiday...it comes right after my birthday. this picture reminds me of my favorite halloween memory...the first one i remember. i was a witch that year and mom dressed me up so well that i didn't recognize myself in the mirror! i looked so much like a wicked witch that i actually got scared and started crying! this shot makes me thin of that because they look SO GOOD! they're very movie-like scary. very realistic looking. cool shot, great memory sparked...thanks!

I loved your pics from last Halloween. They are among my favourite pieces in your gallery.
About this one, the makeup and the hair are great. I like how the negative background contrasts with the white colours in the kids. It directs my sight to the face of the boy and the flowers... nice.

how about a complete switch-up this year? Focus on the cannnndy. Seriously, all those fun colors that happen around Halloween, the candy in the plastic pails shaped like pumpkin heads, the twinkling lights and semi-spooky haunted houses... black light makeup and sugar skulls...

Brilliant work mary 
I disagree with the first two comments about this having too much contrast actually, I think it's perfect because there is such a lack of colour (without being totally black and white) but the contrast stops it from becoming *too* dark, plus you haven't lost a noticeable amount of detail on the high-contrast parts. I'd actually complain if you did reduce the contrast.
Very haunting, especially for an image with children.

So creepy! I get kinda distracted by the background because the tombstones are so bright and the same color as the children, so they kinda blend into it...But then again, if they weren't noticeable, how would we realize that they were in a graveyard? They look like little fallen angels. Very lovely...Creepingly lovely

i also feel that the contrast is a little bit too much,
some areas of highlights and shadows have no details.
maybe using levels and readjust the gamma slider is better?

i disagree about the contrast b/c you still all shades of white - areas of grey on the shirt and wings and such - plus the idea was to do a dark image in dark subject but not in B&W - keep some color.
