Description
because not everything is meant to be smooth and pretty....because sometimes i feel safer in the dark.....
because i acknowledge the monster inside.....
but mostly, because i miss her...

fantastic work you've done here. The pose and expression fit extremely well with the odd hues and color saturation.
It's an awesome portrait.

This is a kind of Dark Art, power shadows you took are amazing and I like them very much.
Best part in the image is the line in which the dark side of your face becomes visible, so improvvise and strong.
This is definitivally not a family portrait, this is a piece of art!
and
for both you and your next to come :boy:

Stuning shot...The lighting is so weird almost surreal as this is a painting...Very emotional look which can be sensed not actually see, as the eyes are really shadowed...
You inspire, angel

This is truly one of your most emotional pieces of art to date. You have captured every the dark element of the loss through your gaze into emptiness. Well done, Mary! I know that this must have been quite a personal moment for you.
I hope she is doing better. I miss her also...

Lovely work -- the dark sadness seeps in around you. The lighting is so dramatic
I have noticed Ms Alix on DA lately so she is still around-- I hope she gets in touch with you too so you arent missing her as much

i know she's still around and i have heard from her recently - but she's just "gone" in a sense you know - so i'm just missing her in that aspect - i want her to be healthy again and flourishing

It's so hard to critique this as a piece of art when it's about something so personal. I don't even really know her, but I did talk to her a few times (in comments/journals) before she got sick, and it does hurt to hear about her in any state other than happiness and health. I don't really know what to say, it's beautiful and the expression is perfect, and it makes me very sad. We all hope she feels better soon.

I think it's beautiful... Mhm.
I could tell t'was you the instant.. You either have that lonely look.. Or that cheery smile to lighten things up. either way.. It's always lovely.
The skin tone.. I'm a huge fan of using greenish colors in shadows.. n_n It just works that way.. Makes everything more morose I believe. Your eye.. Looks, good.. Mhm, I'm not sure how to put it. We can see it.. and now see it, all at the same time. ( Like magick, only better. ) Anyway.. It's got the absent look, you're thinking about something else.. I often do that with pictures. x_x And people usually read wayyy too much into things.
But the description set it off nicely. <3

Beautiful mary. Everyone has a sadness inside that they don't always let others see. I love the slightly altered tones, and the way this is so achingly melancholic.

Is this from that shoot you did ages ago where it was all dark for Alix?
I love the expression on your face... it's like you're just drenched in this insane misery, and there's nothing you can do to get out of it. The earring is a gorgeous, elegant touch which draws the eye.

this photo is absolutely gorgeous. the greens and pinks are quite lovely on your skin, across your cheekbone, back, and chest. i like the way you used shadows, especially on the eye. i also like how your skin is very smooth and almost too perfect looking in some parts, and very real and ordinary in other parts. excellent photo, definitely a favorite.
