Description
she waits in her battled scarred stone cage to be set free one day...mary
(companion to [link] - both images from a little statue i ran across - the graffiti and vandalism on her just brings even more life to her gesture and folds - level play and color balance)
(FULL VIEW to feel her beneath the stone)

this is just breathtaking,
sculpture is such an artform.
The idea of molding something
in your hands is erotic art in a sense.
it gets you in touch with your senses
can't you tell I miss having access to a kiln? lol
So I do the next best thing,
I create art from sculpture...
pastel sketches that is.
While I see many photos of sculpture...
you usually don't see them
so masterfully manipulated.
You have definitely taken this piece of art
to another level...and such a moving piece it is.
bravo!

it kind of reminds me that no matter how scarred a person may be, they just become stronger, and don't break down on the outside

the fact that her face is not seen in this shot adds to her mysterious, ethereal presence. although stone, she is very much alive. she embodies the power of silence and time. beauty and neglect. wonderful shot [because you gave these things to her when everyone else sees a stone]
jaime.

it's painfully moving, especially with the title-- maybe more appropriate would be: "spirit/s in stone"?
and you're right about full size-- i can really feel her pain--
it's amazing how, without seeing her face, one can feel her emotions so strongly--
her wings seem so forlorn and lifeless, longing to be put to use again--
the lighting is beautifully surreal! it adds to her character--
overall, yay!

That's one awesome statue and I love how you captured her soul. I almost thought in my thumbnails that this was a manipulated photo as the darkness stood out. Great job Mary

Normally, I'd be against head cropping. But this is just fine.
I love this! The light... the shadow... no, seriously, that's what makes this gorgeous! She looks so REAL.

it was a soft lighting image of greys/whites/blacks anyway it seems in life due to hte stone - and then the level play brought out the blues in the greys a bit -

"Her strength was like stone. She endured each taunt and poke, unable to escape. Imprisoned. Day and night passed and each found her weaker, tired and desolate. Finally, she wept. Not for herself but for the world around her and those within it. When light surfaced once more, its golden hues could not penetrate her shield. She remained."
While you undoubtedly have your own story of this melancholic maiden, I hope you won't mind mine. You've a fantastic eye and I admire your work immensely. The emotion it evokes is astounding.
