The play of light and shadow in this picture makes the subject look more like she was carved from marble. I trully see this as one of those classic grecian/roman busts/statues that you see in the museums. You did a lovely job here on the lighting.

I like this recent series very much.......I have to agree with the very first comment......how it looks so much like a marble statue standing tall in the shadows....love the black blacks and the white whites.

i would try to get the form more visible down there cos it would give more idea of the pose, now i jst see some small grey things...(down leftish).
however the shadows are really cool on the face and rest. powerful.

This is amazing! The light and shadow are, of course, incredible, but it's the overall effect of these and the pose that make it look like a classic greek sculpture. I'm so impressed and in awe of your talent and work here. You've always impressed the hell out of me, but most I'm impressed beyone words!

I love the shadow play again in this photo. It's almost like an alabaster statue. I would recommend a closer crop, because it's heavy on the bottom with all that black. Nonetheless, it's a beautiful image!

I am concerned that if I crop it closer and remove the "shades" of black on the torso and the heavy black around her - that so much focus would be on the contrasted bust area and its suddenly more like a "statue" than a woman and i wanted her to appear real

Oooh. I see your point. But I think she would still look "real" if you cropped closer. The skin texture and hair texture give it away. I'd crop just above her waist, below the bustline, since that area is deep shadow.
