What do you do when the world’s at your feet?
Watching and hoping that you’ll be able to meet
Every demand and every request
Weight keeps being piled upon your chest.
What’s wrong with these people? Why won’t they see?
You are the best that you can be?
But still they keep at it, ranting and raving,
Your want for love becomes a craving.
Why are they doing it? What have you done?
They all want you to be number one.
But you just can’t do it, you don’t know why,
All they make you do is cry.
“Why won’t it end? Make it all go away;
Please end this pain that I feel day to day.”
But your cry isn’t answered; nobody cares,
You watch as the whole world breaks up into pairs.
Why must you stay alone? Why do you have to suffer?
Why must you be the one who has to stay tougher?
They expect you to be strong, to always know what to do
Then they yell at you for trying something new.
“I’m sorry, I tried, I didn’t mean to fail,”
You plead with them to listen, to actually hear your tale.
But they all back away, you again stand-alone
Such hatred in ones eyes you’ve never known.
You have to get out, but where can you go?
You never thought you’d have to stoop this low.
But this isn’t your fault, you can’t take the pressure,
Why do they put others and you to the measure?
Well enough is enough; you can’t take any more,
All that’s left now is a message lying on the floor.
You leave them with the knowledge that you really did try
Your sorry you failed, that this is something they can’t deny.
You tell them that you’re sorry that you’ve caused so much pain.
You tell them that now they’ll never have to hear from you again!
