Description ...yeah he's more anemic Steve Buscemi than imposing Tony Todd in the book. And of course, since it's one of my favorite movies PERIOD www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTiONd… SWEET FOR THE SWEETS !

Also that sexual tension between Helan and Candyman was in the novella as well. It wasn't a thing just invented for the movie. I just read the synopsis, not the story it was based on. The Dom or What's The Difference should do an episode about the differences between the original short story and movie.Β

On her part, maybe. On his part ? Not really. He pretty much offs her and that is about it.

Weird. Mostly because in one point in the story he actually asked for a kiss. Yeah, I know that Tony Todd's portrayal is legendary, but I kind of think your version of him does look hot in a weird way. I just realized the movie version of Candyman is actually an example of black race lifting of British works. Also the British version looks he could have been played by the late David Bowie. Seriously, I could so see this version being made into a Jareth type.Β

Also in some weird way I would totally tap that like his black counterpart. But if there was a contest, I would always choose Todd.Β

Yeah, just imagine if the novel and movie versions met each other.Β

So, he is not black in the book..interesting. Said movie version will probably be the closest we will ever get to a movie version of swarm from Spider-man.

The movie version is indeed developped better and the pay-off in the end was chilling. In the novellette...not so much...

Never read the book (feel like I've said this before to you). How does it hold compared to movie? As for film it's definitley one of the highlights of the 90s horror.

I am the writing on the wall, the whisper in the classroom. Without these things, I am nothing. So now, I must shed innocent blood.

Well, it is a short story that you'd find among the books of blood collection under the title "The Forbidden", so don't worry, it was rather obscure. The movie is the whole package and far better developped and Virginia Madsen's Helen is just perfect in it.
