The combination here is basic as hell, One of his MKX outfits with his very first bulky suit. Makes him look like the world's cleanest cenobite to be frank. It's funny how a lot of people tend to forget that Quan Chi is a demon. A LITERAL Netherrealm born and bred demon. Even more of a demon than Hellboy or the Violator (their mothers were human after all. And like most pure demons, he enjoys the failures and the suffering of the living ones, especially those he can trick and send to their doom. Doom being his theme of predilection after all...
This worked great against Bi-Han but not so much against Hanzo Hasashi. Why ? Because, he has to open his big mouth and blurt out that HE killed Scorpion's family BEFORE making sure to seal the spectre to the bowels of the Netherrealm. See, demons are more often than not HOOKED on their personality flaws and in Quan's case , it's his vanity.
Now the necromancer's handling as a character has certainly dwindled. He's great in MK Mythologies and MK4 (Rich Divizio SLAYS it ! And, look, say what you will about MK4 BUT there's never a dull moment with Quan Chi and Shinnok as characters. They're too hammy and entertaining for that !), a show stealer in MK Conquest ( Adoni Maropis is simply delicious as the warlock ! Plus the weakness to cobalt ADDS to his nature as a demon. Makes sense that Shao Kahn wants the stuff to be mined...), effective in DA and Deception stories due to the best frenemity in MK history with the Tsungster, kinda bothersome plot-wise in MK9, a total jobber in MKX and one of the best elements in Scorpion's revenge despite Ronald M.Banks' absence (though Darin De Paul definitely does well !). THAT animated movie is a mixed bag for me, BUT what disappoints me ? You have Quan Chi and Shang Tsung in the same place and they're being sassy towards each other ?
