devilkais β€” Who is Roger Rabbit ?

Description This contains spoilers because.... well otherwise the image effect won't be as strong .

To the left , you have the cartoon Roger everyone knows and love . He's coocoo , nice and wacky .

To the right , the book's Roger . Not such a nice guy, he creates doppelgangers in order to not get killed .He speaks in word balloons which appear above his head as he talks then they crumble to dust . He does not have a voice and actually murders someone ... In fact he is close to THIS characterization [link] ... Maybe that type of toon should be in a horror movie (the creepy kind not the gory sort or else it will become hilarious ...) .

I never read the book (but I loved the movie), but I think I like sound of the book Roger just as much as toon Roger.

the book has the theme which told us about the racial situations that happen to black Americans at that time the book was written

They could be different incarnations of the same character; similar to how there are different versions of Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, and other famous toons.

I liked the book's Roger, he was so cunning and sinister, you wouldn't expect that from a toon rabbit! What a great villain! Why did he have to die? :C And in the movie they made Roger completely stupid. He can't do anything right, needs constant babysitting from Eddie and gets into trouble every time Eddie leaves him alone for five minutes. XD I wish they would make a second movie that would be closer to the book version.

I perfectly get that, though the movie still had the 2 greatest characters of all times duke it out in a piano duel !

What's good though is that the first book was all a dream (as said in Who P-P-P-Pluged Roger Rabbit?). But yeah, the movie is 10 times better now that I hear the facts and the movie/Disney Roger is the best (cute, kind, loyal, caring, sweet, funny, and knows the difference between right and wrong)!

As a person who read the the book. Roger did created doppelganger before his murder as part of a plot to pin the crime on Eddie, didn't go as plan. Roger's doppelganger went to Eddie for help to solve his own murder.

The idea of Roger Rabbit being a dark character seems hard to believe. I think that's why they made him more zany and cartoonish for the film.

Oh yeah, that version. It's amazing how the movie version is a lot better than the book version. Although if they ever do the sequel, this is who they should get to be the film's baddie. Makes to me, I guess.

To tell you the truth, I'm working on a script for a live-action/animation film. It's basically like a modern day version of Roger Rabbit, only this time it features not only classic cartoon characters, but also characters from modern day cartoons, anime/manga, video games, movies, books, comics and more. What's the title for this movie of mine? Real easy, Toon World.

Yeah, pretty awesome yes?

devilkais In reply to VoltronZ1 [2013-02-02 11:38:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, you're right here. It'd be great to have a silent villain that speaks in bubbles .
Your script does sound interesting ! Link it some day !

What makes the book so great is that you don't realize what Roger's been up to until the very end so he actually seems like a nice, silly idiot.

Then you realize he's a psychotic genius.

devilkais In reply to Nothingbutblankness [2013-02-01 21:02:05 +0000 UTC]

The movie was a masterpiece after all , even though it was Eddie's story . The concept of these comics strips , silent yet talking , is worth to be made into a psychological horror flick ... Hell Cool world should be remade the way it was intended to be ! Original script INTACT (I wonder what a hybrid between a human and a toon would be like ...)

Nothingbutblankness In reply to devilkais [2013-02-01 21:20:47 +0000 UTC]

Agreed 100%
And I agree, that actually would have made a way better movie, and I love that concept.
