DC Comics asked me to do a couple of designs back in 1999 to firmly establish a look for the Gotham City police force and Batman for all the artists drawing the book to reference. That didn't last long, haha. Artists want to draw Batman their way. Which, I totally understand.Related content

I loved these! I remember seeing them in a Wizard mag around the time of the big re-design of the Bat-books! There was one with the Batmobile too which looked sick! Do you still have that one? You should post it! I would love to see that again!

Ridiculously good, I have spent the last 6 months doing turnarounds for the new True Crime game and just when I thought I couldn't stand to look at another front/back view, you come along and post this.

Oh man, Comics Buyer's Guide published some of this back in the day - I remember scanning it for my desktop background.

a style guide for batman. Even if it isn't religiously adhered to it's good to have as a base line to come back too. Some interpertations of Bats get swamped down in style that isn't teh same character to me anymore.

Yeah, Batman is just one of those characters that everyone wants to do their own way. His look is so fun to play with. I really like seeing artist's different takes on him. Yours would look really good in a cartoon.

That sounds about right--that does look pretty much what Bruce was wearing for a long, long time there, though I guess the gadget's look did vary among different artists.

^ What he said. Bruce Wayne Batman anyway. But that IS seriously one of the simplest most versatile and compelling designs I have ever seen. And that's hard to pull off even when its not Batman whom everybody has a "perfect" version of in their minds eye.
Love the belt..which as we all know is the most important aspect
