Did this last night at Drink and Draw. Between drawing this and having a Los Angeles Lakers riot going on just 2 blocks from the bar, I had a pretty good time. Even when an ambulance showed up to help a poor schmuck who got hit in the face with a tear gas canister. Also it was fun listening to people who had just came off the streets with tales of douchebags trying to light shit on fire because a basketball team won something.It really amazes me how people can be so happy or sad hours after a game that they had nothing to do with in the first place. I can understand if you had a shitload of money riding on a game, but even then, when it's over, it's over. Enjoy it, or be sad about it and move on.
I guess it's the same with people who get totally bent out of shape over things like fictional characters in books, TV shows or movies.
It's really about crossing a line between being a fan of something and just being an asshole. Or maybe I'm wrong.
Pen and ink on watercolor paper. Then played around with in Photoshop for color and effects.

I don't know why I didn't comment/fav this earlier because I saw it a few days ago and I seriously can't stop thinking about the deliciously simple but perfect color scheme and the amaaazing way you treated the skin and textures. I AM INSPIRED and now I feel a million times better since I have gotten that off my chest.

amazing patterns! there's a very "liquid" feel flowing thru the image, i dunno, i'm just weird. it's funny this came thru that LA Riot, sorta like having a zen counter to the craziness. anyways, brilliant stuff as always, dave. this will make for one hell of a print.

Totally agree with you that over identification with the stuff you are into is kinda retarded. I have been that over-zealous fan before and it took awhile for me to realize the level of jackassery I was displaying on a daily basis. The object of my zealotry was Star Wars so there weren't any riots or anything but it's just as ridiculous a fixation and sports team, religion, psuedo-religion etc.

I'm a big hockey fan,especially the Philadelphia Flyers. The FLyers made it to the Stanley cup only to lose in 6 games to the Chicago Blackhawks. When they lost all i said was "AW FUCK" then i was done. Some people i guess feel as if they are better because their team wins . Which is pretty much shows a sign of low self esteem.....

i was out there at the video games live concert. I had NO idea it was the last game. I haven't seen that shit since i got dragged downtown by my boyfriend at the time in denver after the broncos won the super bowl.
and they say video games make people violent.
