I hope he returns too because isn't he a great villain just like Mephiles the Dark and Black Doom? It's because these villains are pure evil also known as complete monsters.

I agree, those villains were dangerous and memorable and Infinite is quite at their level.
Villains from the past games are just silly like Deadly six (ok, they have fans but meh, colorish flat characters) so from this point of view Infinite did well

Too bad they couldn't make him live up to the hype. So little background, an abrupt and anticlimatic demise, no info. Bah, I'll stick to the name Zero The Jackal , for his pre-Infinite persona.

Yeah, too bad it turned out that Infinite was overrated by many fans. He looked quite intriguing and what we have is disappointing. The whole story is a bit unsaid and Infinite's defeat was strange like if they plan to return him... If so I hope for better motivation for him.
Anyway I appreciate the attempts of sega to do something really worthwhile.

Indeed, he just becomes Infinite because Shadow bullies him lol. And the comic did NOTHING to expand on him or Jackal Squad. And as long as Iizuka is in charge, we will still get this crummy half-hearted writing. Plus, knowing them, I doubt he will ever come back or be expanded upon.
Oh well, I'll stick to my headcanon idea where Zero and Jackal Squad were once rivals of Team Hooligan and the Babylon Rogues, explaining partly why he's so bitter towards the world. And yeah, the name Zero comes from the early prodcution of Forces : it represents both his cool deadly side ('zero's' his enemies) but also his weakness.
