Emily smiled her usual “that’s nice, I don’t care” smile and sat down on the table beside me. “So, are you lost?”
“If I were lost, do you think I’d have half a dozen books out on the table? You’re sitting on one of them, thank you very much.” It wasn’t as if she deserved my attitude, but acting snotty is sort of a default for me, so I just go with it.
