Did you guys know that this year is Godzilla's 65th anniversary? And that he was not only a villain in his first movie but he was used as an allegory for the devastating effects that atomic weapons have?

Even though he has somewhat villainous roots, I do feel like he's recognized much more as an anti-hero and a force of nature that will put us back in our place if we don't stop messing with nature like a kid would mess with an anthill...and in all honesty, he is one of my all-time favorite characters.

I still remember to this day, the very first movie I've seen featuring him was the original Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla from the 70's; I even remember the exact scene where Mechagodzilla reveals himself by BURNING off the synthetic Godzilla suit that was covering up his metal body. It blew my little, (i think) 6 year old mind to see that. My favorite movie of his is a tie between Godzilla vs Destroyah, the 1954 original, & the most recent movie that came out this year.

Another fun fact: the Godzilla franchise is the longest on-going movie franchise in history.
