Finally; some one who understands the difference, was just thinking the same thing. If we started talking about hackers as good and crackers as the bad version we'd have it easier when we talk about things with people, instead of them running into conclusions...

yeah, people donΒ΄t really know what a hacker is. Hackers build crackers destroy, thatΒ΄s the most basic way of defining them... i think.

It is black and white [figuratively] white representing 'good' and black 'bad' no racial slurs just white hat and black hat
I think that is a bit better

It's a black-hat hacker.
I'm a grey-hat. Lol.

like post stupid blogs about how evil hackers are? XD then a hacker hacks him for revenge then someone else posts a blog about how evil hackers are in response to the hackers attack (wash, rinse, repeat) XD

Bingo. Don't mess wth crackers.
I hate how 'cracker' is mostly used as a racist term these days instead of meaning an evil hacker. u.u

lolz, I'm white, so why would I be racist against myself?
But, yeah, I blame the media! I know real hackers that don't like to call themselves hackers because of that. v.v

I'm white too but that don't stop me from being racist to myself ( I guess I watch too much South Park
) and I also know a few hacker friends that don't like to be called hackers.

MUAHAHAHAH! That's probably what the hacker's sayin'. Honestly, though, that's rather insulting to Hobbyist Hackers. (They're HARMLESS, Hobbyist Hackers, yup.).
The kind of hacker we see is Black Hat.
Hobbyists only target software, and they'll want to exploit only that. Correct me if I'm wrong.
NOTE: I'm not trying to say that you should just trust a hacker, I'm just saying that there are different types of hackers. Search it up on Wikipedia, yep.

The correct term for bad 'hackers' is 'crackers', for they 'crack' into systems.

Yeah! Finally, someone who sees MY point of view! I've been labelled a hacker, myself. I got the title for swapping files from a video game. (And, the person who called me a hacker just said it without second thoughts.).
