I have a really stupid question...how does this thing work? I don't have a cell phone that reads it. What does this do?

You could put in any info and print it out or put it on a business card or a product, and people can scan it.
For example you could put your website url into the "data" box and the resulting QR code would allow you to scan it and go directly to the website.
