You know, I get that often, but it means even more coming from a master such as yourself. Thanks.

May i ask one question? About shadows, when it goes from darker to lighter shadow, are you using blur tool too? Or what? Softer brush? Tell me, i need to know

I'm using a blender tool in Corel Painter 8. But usually, photoshoppers use the blur or smudge tool, I think. Also try decreasing the opacity of your brush when going from one tone to another.

Hey, you said you use Corel Painter. Do you by chance also have Jasc, and if so, is there diffrences. (Well, I'm sure there are, but I want to know diffrences in feature sets, quality, ect.....)

I used Jasc's PSP briefly, and from what little experience I had of it, I can tell you PSP (not counting Animation Pro) is like a watered-down version of Photoshop. It's got less features, and is more geared toward drawing than complex photo-manipulation. As for differences between it and Corel Painter 8, I think Painter's got a lot more brushes. Painter's brushes, like acrylics and watercolor, feel much more realistic and visceral, whereas Jasc's got your standard digital airbush and paintbrush with mechanical behavior.
But I never really tried to do much with Jasc, so someone with more experience could shed some more light on the matter. Having tried all three programs (PS7, Painter8, and PSP), I go with PS7 for finishing pics with special effects and encoding PSD as JPEG, and I use Painter 8 for realistic coloring and smooth shading. Basically, Painter mimicks real media (watercolor/airbrush/acrylics/etc), while PS7 and PSP are more digital in intent.
Also worth mentioning is Open Canvas 3, which I use for doing lineart and cell-shading. It's got a super-fast response to tablet marks (almost as fast as oekaki), and is really good at varying line-weight. It's inferior to the other programs in terms of coloring, although most of that is the artist's fault T_T (I've seen some amazing stuff done with it T_T_T_T_T).

I got OC4, and PSP9 right now.
Actually, since I am a student in college....
I am looking at getting PSP X (my dad will get that), Adobe Creative Suite 2 (yep, the whole thing.
), and possibly Corel Painter. I will be set for life. (Until updates come out that is.
)

Heh, nice. I've never used Adobe Creative Suite 2, though I have heard of it (distantly). But by PSP9 are you refering to Photoshop 9? or Paintshop Pro 9? Because I don't remember Paintshop Pro having numbers behind it, at least back when I used it.
All those shiny programs are secondary to your drawing hand though, so keep practicing! Some amazing works are still done on Photoshop 5.5 -_-;
