~I Only Wanted You~

They say memories are golden
well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you,
a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
and bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

Kiara's blue star was her most favourite toy. She'd take it wherever she went, carrying it carefully in her mouth. Each night in her cage, she'd place her star under her head like a pillow and go to sleep.

It's a little damaged on the side by her small sharp teeth and most of the the paint has been chipped off from the little paw patterns. But I find myself clinging to it, treasuring and cherishing the memories of her that it invoked.

This was hard for me to draw. But I feel that I have to express my grief. The house is so quiet now and the silence is so loud.

Yesterday evening, we went to Kiara's grave.

My mom's brother had gone to India recently and he'd given her a small bottle filled with water from the Holy Ganges River.

In Hinduism, it is believed that when the ashes of the dead are cast in the waters of the Ganges, the soul of the deceased is guided straight to paradise.

We couldn't scatter Kiara's ashes in the Ganges, but we did the next best thing; we sprinkled her grave with the water.

Rest in peace, my baby Kiara. You're never far from my thoughts.
