Place: Egypt | Abu Simbel Temple at the shore of Nassar Lake, South EgyptTime: January 2009
Shown is the right side of the main temple (there are two) of Abu Simbel for the Pharao Ramses II. Before the temple was rescued by several countries from the water of the lake (which was "made" by the Assuan Barrage), the sunlight shines at two special days ("Special" for the ancient egyptians at that time) through the whole temple right into the inner sanctuary - Abu Simbel is a great math and engineering achievement at that time - thousands years ago.
