How did you add the highlights to the chess piece?

I used the brush tool to create vertical stripes of varying shades of gray, from dark to light and back to dark again, then used the blur tool to blend the heck out of it! This was way back on Photoshop Elements

Cool and is it possible to make vertical stripes of varying shades of gray from dark to light, then darken it once more and blend it by using the blur tool to this day?

I feel like you're being facetious but I can't really tell so I'll assume you're not. You should be able to do that on any drawing/photo editing software. There are a ton of programs out there besides photoshop that you can download for free. I currently use Artweaver.

'I'm I the Bishop in this game of chess'? Great job.

I was thinking of making it a knight instead of a rook. Basil seems more knightly (rude), doesn't he?
And thank you

I think Basil will make an exellent knight. Oh you're very welcome.

It was this scene I used to try and figure out what Basil's real life height is. I actually got my answer after finding a character chart of him. He's approximately 5½" tall. I really like this drawing and his expression is amusing. Great work on it!

He's probably trying to figure out why a castle battlement is called a rook. And why a Queen goes in 'every direction'.

AWESOME! I loved the sketch, and you did a fantastic job digitalizing it!

For the future, I'd suggest that when drawing inanimate objects like the chess piece, I think there's a feature on the tablet program where you can cheat with circles and strait lines. I think that's what most people do with digital drawings.

Love Basil's expression and pose, like I said IRL. Did you draw him from your head?

Yeah, I probably should have used shapes, but I sort of don't like the way it looks, all cut and straight next to a curvy person (or mouse).

And I drew him from my head
