Description
Scientists are studying the Quantum Morpher. They tell Eric they can't unlock it's information, it's years ahead of their current technology. Eric is confused, it came from an archaeological dig.
Nadira robs a store and the Silver Guardians are called. They drive off Nadira, with the help of the Time Force Rangers. Eric tells them they're getting close to unlocking the Quantum Morpher's power.
Ransik revives a new mutant, Conwing, who has the ability to copy anyone's voice, and with that power he can control the Q-Rex.
At Eric's house, we see a hobby of his. He's taking care of a couple of birds in an outside cage. A little girl approaches him and asks to see the birds. Eric starts to look happy. Suddenly, some men surround him and order him to come with them. The girl sees one of the men holding a Cyclobot weapon. They take Eric to a bridge far away. The leader of the men reveals himself to be Conwing. He threatens to go after the little girl from earlier if Eric doesn't cooperate. He forces Eric to summon the Q-Rex. The mutant then copies Eric's voice and commands the Q-Rex. He teases Eric about how his technology is far more advanced because it's from the future. This is the first time Eric realizes where his Morpher came from.
The Rangers show up, and Eric uses the chance to escape. He jumps into the water below, but gets shot by Conwing. Jen goes after Eric to make sure he's alright. The others take on the mutant, but he orders Q-Rex back. The Rangers call Circuit and for some reason he calls the Shadow Winger. Huh. The mysterious keeper of the Time Shadow doesn't seem to be as enigmatic as before.
Jen saves Eric, much to Eric's annoyance. Jen tries to explain to him they're not his enemies. He responds, "You're not my friends either." Jen cuts back, "That's your choice. Eric reveals that he knows the Time Force Rangers are from the future. Jen asks him not to tell anyone their secret. Especially not Mr. Collins. He doesn't give her a definite reply.
Jen leaves to help the Rangers. Eric follows, we get a really cool American shot Zord scene here. The mutant orders Q-Rex to kill Eric, and Eric runs and dives for Jen's cannon, blasting the mutant and getting his Morpher back. The mutant grows, and blasts the Q-Rex away. Eric morphs and chases Conwing. Suddenly he receives a message from the future, informing him of his suit's "Mega Battle" ability. He activates it, giving him his own Battilizer! Uniquely, it has roller skates. The little girl from earlier is still with Eric's birds. Conwing tries to grab her, but Eric activates the Quantum suit's Aerial Mode and defeats the mutant. The Rangers insist Eric start working with them, but Eric wants to work alone.
At the Silver Guardians Headquarters, Mr. Collins asks Eric if he has any new information to give him. Eric tells him no, and we can see the conflict in his face.
Later, Eric is back home. He's looking for his birds. The little girl comes over, she had them. In a nice touch we see the fence behind them is smashed from the earlier monster attack. It's not often we actually see the results of the monster rampages. Eric tells the girl she can come see the birds whenever she likes, and from a distance, Wes watches and smiles. Maybe Eric is developing a softer side.

This is a wonderful focus for Eric, and has some great action as well.
The mutant's ability to mimic voices is a unique one.
I appreciate that Eric holds off from joining the Rangers. I miss how in past seasons the sixth or special Rangers would stay separate from the core group. Still having their own stories but not with the rest of the Rangers. The last time PR did something like that was Dino Charge, but there wasn't any conflict between the Rangers, if the core team requested their help, they'd be right there. Before that in Jungle Fury, we had the Spirit Rangers, who weren't conventional Rangers, I don't really know what to consider them.
The American Zord and monster footage is impressive, aside from Conwing behind the buildings at a low angle. Something there just didn't work.
