Description
There's some nice character moments in the opening, but it's all overshadowed by an ominous spy watching Jen. She notices, but appears to shrug it off. Later that night, she encounters the spy. She knows who it is. After a brief fight, Jen escapes. She contacts the future about it. His name was Steelix.Jen explains his story. He was once a member of Time Force, but started selling secrets to their enemies, including Ransik. He was caught and put in cryo stasis. She then reveals that he stole her morpher in their fight earlier.
The next day, Jen hears Steelix. She follows his voice, only to find a Jack-in-the-box that tells her where he wants to meet. She keeps the information secret from the other Rangers. She wants to face him alone, I guess she hasn't learned her lesson from Jen's Revenge.
Jen holds her own unmorphed against Steelix, but eventually gets it back. Then she starts losing! She even gets poison sprayed at her and faints! The Ranger suit doesn't seem to be helping much in this situation.
The other Rangers arrive just in time to drive off Steelix. Wes stays to check on Jen while the others pursue Steelix.
Jen wakes up with an evil glow in her eyes and attacks Wes!
The others battle Steelix, while Wes finally manages to get through to Jen.
They rejoin the team against Steelix. Eric shows up as well. Jen defeats Steelix, but he removes his DNA patch and grows. He's put back into cryo stasis pretty quickly.
In the year 3000, the mysterious man who sent the Rangers the Shadow Winger says the future is "shifting", and it's time for him to get involved.
One thing I almost thought was cool here was Steelix not being a mutant. Then he is. Okay. He's only a mutant so they can have a reason for him to grow at the end.
The plot here is similar to The Last Race, though unlike Dash, the mutant in that episode, Steelix never reforms.
It's also a reminiscent plot of Jen's Revenge, and it hits alot of the same beats.
The scene with Steelix's Jack-in-the-box really feels like a Sentai inspired scene. I went back and watched the Timeranger episode, and it's not there. I guess it's just a bizarre idea the PR crew had.
There's some good episodes coming up, I'm looking forward to them!

I hope you enjoy it!
