I know so many students who hate analyzing movies, but I'd have to say I would love to see a full analysis of the movie. I'm sure there's more than what I've done myself.

I like to anaylsis movies! I understand it watching the same movie over and over and over can be annoying, but, it's all worth it in the end

DhampirSyrine In reply to tiny-french-vampire [2011-03-20 15:49:31 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely it's worth it. Even movies you don't completely enjoy, you start to appreciate all of the small things that the director and writers wanted in there to almost trick the audience. There are so many things that are placed into movies for a reason that most people don't even see!

exactly, and it's fun how the tiny detailed tell you so much about that person, things that you dont notice when just watching it freely

I once had a film teacher say that nothing is put in a movie without a reason. It's amazing absolutely. Figure when you are watching something like this, what is found in the rooms, in the kitchen, it all has meaning to some point.

Oh yeah I know!! Have you seen the orphanage and Pan's Laybirth? Because there are soooo many links between the two and the devil's backbone since the same director made them all

DhampirSyrine In reply to tiny-french-vampire [2011-03-22 00:49:07 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I have seen them. And I also know (though not that it was hard to spot) that DelTorro put in the prop from devil's backbone into his Hellboy 2 movie. It was the fetus in the jar, sitting right in the beginning of the movie! He definitely has alot of symbolism in them.

tiny-french-vampire In reply to DhampirSyrine [2011-03-22 16:41:57 +0000 UTC]

Really? I'm going to go check it out XD What I always notice is in the devil's backbone he has sooo much amber colour, and there is tones in hellboy 2

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DhampirSyrine In reply to tiny-french-vampire [2011-03-22 20:44:28 +0000 UTC]

Yes, he tends to use the complimentary colors of orange and blue, which was what made Abe stand out so much in the movies, and was used in Orphanage. He also put Pan symbols on everything in Pan's Labyrinth! Nearly every shot has an etch of him in a rock or on furniture.

did he? Wow, you;ve analysied it more then me! what is pan's symbol again? is it the eye?

It looks like a little goat, actually, or like a ram. My husband and I love DelTorro, and his movies are more than enjoyable. We try to challenge one another to not only understand but to see any underlying themes. We took a film class together and ever since we try to compete. He's the one who saw the Pan symbols all over, but when you watch it and look for them, they're all over!

Pan's Labyrinth has the little Pan symbols all over the place, but all of his movies (at least that I've seen) use the orange tint.
