Description
Ooo! A work in progress in my main gallery! I have finally deemed the model good enough to be here, this will be the final work in progress posted before the completely completed one.So, it has been modelled in Maya 8.0 entirely from scratch by me using polygons. Nurbs make me cry XD though I am getting to grips with them much more now (just not here!). The textures are painted in photoshop, including the specularity, bump, and transparancy maps. The nib on my graphics tablet pen is wearing down from all the painting haha!
Still to be completed is a little tweaking of the skin, the hair does still need a lot of work (and will have a hair clip/ ponytail thing at the back) umm... I think that's it! Then of course there's the rigging and the background to be done. And the lighting. Can't forget that! This set of renders is just using the default lighting in Maya, hence the naff shadows etc.

Anatomy looks GREAT she's like so not supermodel looking, makes her more realistic. XD

Thank you! It's my first model concentrating on the anatomy, and I know there are one or two things a little off, but I'm really pleased with it

thank you! I've got rid of that horrible line between the head and body textures now too, and put more detail into the hair. Wuhoo, ready for rigging! Watched an awesome animated movie today, "Resident Evil: Degeneration", and they did it all in Maya too! Oh I think I told you already actually. But not about the Maya part! Really inspirational stuff!

No, you told me you were going to watch it, but you hadn't watched it yet when we spoke. It's cool that they did it in Maya Just think, one day YOU could be making zombie movies like that! Coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!

I want to work on a zombie mooooviiiiiiiiiiiie or animation or series or musical! That would be so cool You must watch it, the Resi Evil
egen that is. And mine too when I make it. But the other one first
You'll recognise "Wesker", y'know the narrator on Resi Evil: Umbrella Chronicles? He's in it
And they've brought back Claire n' Leon from the older games as two of the main characters, they kick some butt
They really paid attention to the games when they made it, it'd be fantastic as a game actually, if they used the movie storyline. There was a hilarious bit where a plane full of zombies crashed and the door popped open, then all these zombies just wandered off the drop and went "plonk!" XD I think it was supposed to be scary X'D but that bit was hilarious!

The skin looks pretty perfect so far, as does the anatomy. Is the hair painted or are you using Maya Hair?
Once this is put into a real scene setup, It'll be fanatastic!

I tried out maya hair, but it kept looking too stark and sharp against the skin. I reverted to good ol' polys for it after a few days of experimentation and it fits the rest of the character much better I think (the polys are what's in these images). I've put some hair brush strokes on the poly hair now as well to make those stray few hairs that are always sticking up XD plus the transp maps on the hair is much better now so it looks less blocky. Render times are not as scary as I had feared though, about a minute and a bit!
Cheers for the encouragement, I can't wait to get her in a proper background and all ready to animate! Tomorrow I'm starting the rigging
