Description

Sky Dashers, Thunderbolts, Heavy assault air-trooper.

The Enclave has always looked to past glory for inspiration, as such with the revival of the wonderbolts for propaganda. This would be the same for the Enclave remnants as the decided factions would form Shadowbolt teams to conduct covert operations. But as their technology would quickly whether and fail, or become lost through the many skirmishes between each faction or against the wastelanders, new strategies would need to be formed.

With less and less advanced weapons and power armor to go around, many pegasuses would find themselves using more primitive kits to survive. Most would reject this change, but some would embrace it, emulating their biggest rivals in the sky, the Talon mercenaries. Choosing to go as heavy as possible without compromising their speed, these ponies would end up being called Thunderbolts, named after a pre-Equestria pegasus warriors who knew no equal in their era.

As the many Enclave remnant factions would merge together, the Thunderbolts would be consolidated into their own strike force, whose job it was to break any enemy with pure prejudice. Screaming in with heavy guns and breaking enemies lines before vanishing, they would become the hammer in which the Remnants used to lead any assault in which normal troopers would fly in their wake. Eventually the Equestria Wastelands would learn to fear being struck by Thunderbolts.

-the tech-

The full cover cloud tech armor is simple armored plates made lighter with cloud tech. Not as good as power armor, but far cheaper to make and the plates are easily replaceable, where power armor can no longer be made, and only spare parts can be taken from broken power armor. So the Dashers adopt the BMVA-CTA2 as their standard heavy armor for the Thunderbolts.

Along with an armored gas mask, this armor would more than prove its worth as fighting with rival factions would grow more common. Able to efficiently absorb most energy attack, and deflect small caliber fire, rare was it that a pony in this armor was easily taken down, even out performing pegasus power armor by simply providing more cover and having easily replaceable plates.

The Vindicator was an example of the Remnants having to downgrade their tech, but finding creative solutions with such downgrades. Having found several Vindicators, at first they would use the advice miniguns to clear territory and drive off rivals, but the rare caseless ammo would quickly dry up, and the miniguns would be used less and less. Unable to make new ammo for the gun, Black Mountain Valley Armory would make their own Vindicator, rechambering it with 5.56mm, and taking out some tech in favor of cloud tech.

Reborn as the Vindicator M2, though still heavy, it was significantly lighter, and useda more common ammo, allowing not just its use on the battlefield, but for it to be better flown into battle. The linchpin for any assault as it rained lead with a roar from the sky, it would be seen held proudly on the underbelly of the Thunderbolts who use it.

The most feared weapon used by the Thunderbolts, the plasma flamer is used to smoke mutant monsters and raiders alike. Found in a Ministry of Awesome bunker as a prototype, the M.o.A. was attempting to turn a plasma caster into a flamer to replace the outdated flamers in use. Hoofed over the BMVA, they easily finished the prototype due to their extensive experience with MEW's providing the Dashers with several working models a month.

One of the holdouts from the Grand Pegasus Enclave was the gauss rifle. Though rarely used due to being far heavier than standard Enclave rifles, after the loss of many MEW weapons since the fall, the rifles would be taken out of storage. Due to their simple construction, BMVA found it easy to make more for the Dashers, though not as easy as standard ballistic rifles due to the need of tech. Outfitted to their advanced troops, the gauss rifle would provide the punch needed to fight most threats along with flexibility for a rapidly changing battlefield.

Probably the iconic Thunderbolt rifle, this Prance made 20mm light anti-air autocannon was not made for infinity troops, but as fixed twin artillery to prevent Zebra bombing. Used all over Equestria during the war, it was not uncommon for daring Talons to take surviving autocannons and make them into rifles. Most famously was a diminutive Talon by the name of Hispano, who famously fought throughout the west coast of the Equestria Wasteland. So when the radiation cleared up, and many of the autocannon were discovered in intoched storage, many pegasuses would emulate the Talon to great success. Called a "Hispano's rifle" it would later just be called a "Hispano"

One of the few unmodded weapons used by the Thunderbolts, most of them are passed down from senior to junior Thunderbolt as a right of passage. And even though the Dasher try to issue new and more advanced 25mm autocannon, most Thunderbolts would choose to go into battle like the Talon Hispano, as why change what already works.
