I looked at both of your drawings so I can give some critique on them:
-Both seem to be primarily light tones. It's hard to tell what's what and it kind of strains the eyes. Try making everything a midtone first (rub some graphite powder to darken all the paper by a couple shades) then put in your shadows. This way you can lift out highlights and allow more range. Makes it look for 3D too.
Other than that small thing, your proportions are awesome and the subjects great!

I like the idea about graphite powder, will be sure to give it a go

Get your scissors and scrape off with one blade on your pencil lead. Or alternatively you can lightly shade in the paper with the pencil and blend to an even tone with a kleenex. ^_^

Thanks that's appreciated, actually I enjoyed drawing this one, never been great with portraits I much prefer drawing animals but I think I will call this my first serious success
