I did, brother-- maybe the fastest day of the year! But this was the highlight for me; seeing this was really the best moment of the whole day; thanks again, man...

Glad it was a good day, man!
Hey, I'm listening to a lot of Creedence lately-- do you like their music? I've been listening to their Willy and the poor boys album like an addict.

I've got a double vinyl Best Of, yeah-- I used to play Run Through The Jungle at least once a week; and Hey Tonight...

Run through the jungle was always a fave of mine as well-- the intro alone is SO cool. I'm loving Molina right now... "Moli-i-i-na, where you goin' to???"
Is that best of album the "Chronicles" compilation? I remember seeing that album cover at a very early age, and always loved the sepia tones and the title design, before being familiar with the music on the record.

Yah, brother, "Chronicles"... also, don't miss Fogerty's 1985 comeback, "Centerfield"-- "Rock And Roll Girls" is one of the best songs he ever wrote...

I love all the stuff in the Chronicles record. I haven't checked anything by Fogerty solo yet, but I remember reading that his company from the CCR sued him for... eh... stealing from himself (I think it was "Run through the jungle"), for a song in one of his solo albums...

Yah-- Fogerty responded to that with a song on Centerfield about Saul Zaentz, the owner of the record company-- "Zaentz can't dance, but he'll steal your money..." Zaentz sued and Fogerty had to re-record it as Vanz Kant Danz-- that's the version I have, but I think early pressings of that album remain a condemnation of Zaentz...

Man, poor guy, Fogerty I mean, being sued for stealing himself, and then having to re-record the song because it offended the guy... that must be one of the most bizarre anecdotes of the music business, I suppose...

There's a book I've been meaning to pick up for a lot of years now called Hit Men [link] that chronicles(!) many stories like this one...

Man! I was just reading the description and users' comments-- seems like a super interesting book, The Godfather goes to the radio! There was a late 80s tv show called "Wiseguy", that had a bunch of episodes where the main character investigates crazy stuff inside the music business (Debbie Harry has a great part in those episodes), and just reading about this book brought those episodes to mind: [link]

Yeah, I was really hooked on that show, actually; the resolution to that particular story "arc" kind of didn't cohere all that well, but it sure was entertaining; poor Ken Wahl died mysteriously in Hollywood a couple of years back; I've been meaning to rent the entire series from Netflix and kicking back with it again-- it was a great show!

DiegoTripodi In reply to SRaffa [2010-10-01 13:38:17 +0000 UTC]
The resolution of that arc was the Tim Curry character getting dressed as Elvis and dancing on someone's grave...? About Ken Wahl, other than Wiseguy, I remember he was on a movie (that I haven't seen) with Bette Midler, which used to be played on cable sometimes... but I had no idea what else he worked on-- all in all, yeah, I think it was a pretty cool show!

Dancing on his nemesis and competing producer's grave-- Paul Winfield-- and Winfield was somehow so sure that Curry was going to do that, that he planted a small explosive set to go off when Curry's feet hit the proper velocity...
