there should be a parentheses with question mark in the title, but it's not really possible. =3=although it doesn't explain much but hopefully it helps something of something to someone. |D
also this isn't the exact way i do pictures, since i sometimes start coloring or shading even while i'm doing the lineart section~
questions are welcomed~
and i don't know if i should be sad or laughing with the song i'm hearing: "it's super fun; it's happy to be lonely~ T โฝT" with cheerful voice and up-beat rythm (despite the lyric)

on the free spaces where there are tools, right-click and choose the 'brush' to create/add a new tool; i assume that's the 'default setting', except changing the "min size" to 50 to 0. it's been few years back so i'm not completely sure but it's surely close enough XD:

nice tutorial but what brush do you use to chade the skin, hair, clothes, ect.?

i used brush called "brush" for hair and clothes, and "water" brush for blending the skin colors. both of them with their original default settings.
the high lights are done with "pencil" brush =w=

to clip layers you just need to click "layer under clip" box - it's located just above the "new layer" button, along with "transp lock" and "selection extr" boxes.

BTW, how do you choose the colors for the overlaying?

glad this tutorial is helping people >w<; TwT indeed a lot of practicing do improve your skills - just every time you practice, remember to notice where do you find difficulty - then concentrate on that part for a while. if it's about perspective or anatomy, use actual references such as objects seating right next to you =w= not many people does it, but drawing still life helps your observation skill, which helps them to notice the tiny details of objects and people (and shading + high lights) 8D
as for the color choosing, you can also: create new layer above the image>>clip it>>set the layer mode to "overlay">>set the transparency about 80%>>then choose any color and shade with "airbrush" tool>>press Ctrl+U for the hue/saturation box>>play around with the meter until you find a interesting effect (color combination) =w=
but actually choosing the overlaying colors by the warm & cool colors are easier XD; (i.e.: base of red -> overlay colors are orange, yellow, violet; base of blue -> overlay colors are light blue, violet, emerald green; etc)
