The Round Table class landing ship logistical (LSL), or "landing ship large" to many, was a class of amphibious warfare support vessels built for the British Royal Navy (BRN/RN or just Royal Navy) which first entered service in 1964. They are known as the Round Table class because all but one (Tobruk) were named after the Knights of the Round Table in British Authurian mythlore, with of course Sir Lancelot being the lead ship of the class. These had both and stern loading doors, and could beach themselves like World War II era LSTs in order to offload their cargo directly without the need for port facilities. They also had provision for cargo and personnel handling via dual helicopter landing pads. They served the Royal Navy all through the back half of the Cold War, with one being lost (Sir Galahad) to an Argentinean air attack during the Falkands War of 1982. The rest continued to serve after the end of the Cold War, until the Bay class came along to replace them in 2002. After that all but one were either sold off to interested friendly foreign powers or disposed of via scrapping or sinking as an artificial reef, with some of these still in service with their current owners as I write this (fall 2021). The lone survivor in Royal Navy service, Sir Tristam, is currently moored at Portland as a static training ship. This is a straight port with no changes by me.
