Description
Ported to OBJ and slightly modified by me from the retextured fan revamp of the model originally created by Rick "p81" Knox for the Starfleet Command (SFC) series of video games. Star League design by Eric Kristiansen as first released in his fanon publication Jackill's Starfleet Reference Manual Volume 1, and derived from the original Federation class design created by Franz Joseph Schnaulbelt for ye olde Star Fleet Technical Manual (SFTM) back in the day. Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS. NO MODEL DOWNLOAD.
This is the Jackill's alternative TMP era upgrade for the TOS Federation class dreadnought from ye olde SFTM. As you can see it's pretty straightforward, mirroring almost exactly the original TOS era Federation design lines but utilizing TMP era technology all the way and deliberately avoiding any special features used by that other fanon take on the same idea. That was for legal reasons, of course.
I note that the Star League upgrade was VERY popular with the original generation of SFC gamers back in the day, and you'll see all kinds of different takes on it with extra weapons and other enhancements for gaming purposes and such. I took the least complicated of those and stripped it back to the original Jackill's form for my own personal use, although I kept the double-ender phototorp deck partly because that's an acceptable in-service late TMP era upgrade per Guenther's SoSF1 (the original Star League had a standard TMP era, single-ender two tube phototorp deck per the Jackill's schematic), and partly because it was less trouble to just leave it as it was. For those of you who prefer the many other "fan-enhanced" versions of Star League (a-hem!), all I can say there is that's your choice and more power to you.
BTW it's possible to this to exist in the same continuity as that other fan-made Federation class TMP era upgrade (a-hem), and I show you one way of doing this in my own Federation Fleet Review (FFR, pp. 51-54), but if you'd rather not go that route then more power to you as well. Pick whichever version you want and run with it for all it's worth. All hail the Trek multiverse! XD
This is considered fanon, although is good fanon and remains as popular as ever. Where you ultimately go with this in your own efforts is up to you.
Live long and prosper.
