Description
Ported to OBJ, hand-textured, and further modified by me from the orignial STL model of Lecthu by Captain Mojo. Derived by me from the original Lechtu class design by Eric "Jackill" Kristansen as released in his fanon Lecthu Class Destroyer blueprint set. Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS. You can download Captain Mojo's original STL model of Lechtu as part of one of his many Star Trek STL model packs and mod it appropriately in order to get to Sho'tar, but be warned! STL models are not textured because they are meant to be used with a 3D printer, with the one doing the printing painting them after they're made. You will have to hand-texture this yourself, same as I did. Anyway, here's the link:

This is the scout class version of the Klingon Lecthu class destroyer, just as Hermes was the scout class version of the Saladin class destroyer (both SFTM) in the Federation Starfleet's original batch of Class I starships early on the TOS era. Sho'tar is the direct Klingon analog of Hermes just as Lechtu is their direct analog for Saladin. The more robust Lechtu design, as compared to its weaker predecessor Kortak (see separate entry), allowed for conversion into Shotar to be a first-rate effort, with more than enough room for the Klingon equivalent of their full ELINT/ECM/ECCM special electronics suite. Also, and just like its Federation counterpart, part of the extra necessary room for Sho'tar's scout class electronic suite came by ditching all heavy weapons from the original Lechtu design. That's why you see plated-over mounts where the fore and aft photon torpedo tubes would be located on Lechtu, as well the lack of a disruptor mounted on the forward edge of its warp engine. This was the way Sho'tar was configured when it entered Klingon Imperial Fleet (KIF) service at the start of the TMP era (or re-entered it after being upgrade from its original TOS/TAS era form in more than one fanon Trek multiverse thread).
Most of the Sho'tars serving with the KIF remained as you see above for their rest of their service lives save for the typical and expected routine minor refits and selected systems upgrades. It should also be noted a select few in KIF service and many in House fleet service (whose owners could afford it) had their forward photon torpedo tube and its associated internal systems and storage restored during the back half of the TMP era at the expense of part of their scout electronics suite, or had Lecthu's engine-mounted disruptor restored instead to minimize the loss of those special electronics. This Shotar mod came about largely due to the increasing tensions and occasional border clashes with Federation starships during this time. As part of this up-arming process Sho'tars so modified were also given a standard TMP era STN-6 warp engine (same as K't'inga and the TMP era Lecthu) to replace its somewhat smaller TMP era STN-5 model. That way any modded Sho'tar would have the extra power necessary for using its restored heavy weapon (whichever one) along with everything else it carried. It was felt by every Klingon commander who modded their Sho'tars in this fashion that having at least one heavy weapon would give a "mod Sho'tar" a better chance of survival should it find itself in a combat situation, even if it couldn't collect as much intel or perform as well a job at ECM/ECCM as a regular unmodded Shotar. Again this was not a widespread modification and it was far more common within House fleets than the KIF, but it is still worthy of note.
Sho'tar's service career more or less paralleled that of its stablemate, the Lecthu class destroyer. All production on both was halted due to extensive damage to the shipyards making them as a direct result of the Praxis Event (STIV) and was never restarted. They remained in KIF service for as long as the KIF found them useful and then were then farmed out to the various House fleets, in particular to those Houses who didn't already have their own, and who used them until they were completely worn out and couldn't be used anymore in true Klingon fashion.
This is fanon, although it's considered some of the best Klingon TOS/TAS and TMP era fanon available. What you do with it in your thread of the Trek multiverse is up to you.
'IwlIj jachjaj!
ASIDE 1 - Here's a link to my entry on the TOS/TAS era Sho'tar, if you want more info on that particular version of it.
ASIDE 2 - I came up with the late TMP era "mod Shotar" version while I was writing this, so those of you who wanted one could have one with only minimal changes required to Captain Mojo's excellent STL model. The Federation already has a similar TMP era mod for its various TMP era uprated scout classes with their new combined probe-and-drone launchers. You can also have some fun with this in your own Klingon stories. Here's an example:
CAPTAIN KORPA - Why can't we get that data?!
OFFICER KINH - Because we don't have enough data gathering capability anymore.
KORPA - And why not, you targ?!
KINH (evenly) - Because the new storage magazine for our photon torpedoes is where our main data collection unit used to be, sir.
KORPA (after long thoughtful pause) - I see. Very well. Do what you can.
KINH - Yes, sir.
