Description
Ported to OBJ from the 3D model provided by our friends over at the Pack 3D website. Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS. NO MODEL DOWNLOAD.
First entering service in 1970 to replace its older World War II and early Cold War era command ships, the two ships of the Blue Ridge class were the very first purpose-designed military command ships to enter service with the United States Navy (USN). All others, including their predecessors, had either been conversions of existing ships (both civilian and military, such as USS LaSalle and the Cold War era USS Northampton, et al) or adapted from civilian transport designs (Mount McKinley, et al). Their design is based on that of the old Iwo Jima class helicopter carriers (LPH, aka "gator carrier"), although extensively adapted for their new role and with the original side island replaced by a central superstructure for the same reason. The Blue Ridge class were both designed and built from the keel up to serve as command ships from day one. From the day they were launched they have always had the most sophisticated communications and electronic surveillance suites of any USN vessel as befitting their intended roles, even over those of fleet aircraft carriers and not counting specialized intelligence gathering types. They are widely considered to be "the most capable command ships ever built" (Military Analysis Network), with a C3 capability far and away above that of their closest competitors either East or West. When not being used for their intended roles for amphibious assault operations coordination they are used mainly as fleet flagships. Only two of the planned class of six were built due to the extremely high cost of their equipment, and at present (early 2021) they are the oldest vessels still serving with the USN. Both ships in the class, USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19) and USS Mount Whitney (LCC-20), have recently finished extensive overhauls and modernization of their equipment to ensure their continued service with the USN for another two decades. Blue Ridge currently serves as the flagship of the U.S Seventh Fleet, while Mount Whitney serves as the flagship of the U.S. Sixth Fleet. This is an OBJ port of the game ripped model, with my own changes being to replace some of the textures with my own in order to make it a better fit with my other Cold War era USN warship models.
This is not my model. All I did was port it for you and mod it as described above. Please credit the Pack 3D website as the source. You do not have to credit me for my part.

TRIVA - There has been a proposal to convert the USN's three experimental Zumwalt class DDGs into "stealth" command ships to replace the Blue Ridges per the official U.S. Naval Institute website, but nothing has come of it so far.
ASIDE - For those of you using the free XNALara XPS 3D posing program, fellow dA member Haganeya has a rigged XPS version of the original game-ripped model which you can get at the link below:
