so, do you take photos and do this?

In case of the flowers, i first make a rough sketch, then
paint it in, en finish it up (enhaunce)it with photoshop.
This work i did in about 10 min. Mostly i take my own pictures with my Canon Rebel. Sometimes i'รกm inspired by works of others.
