Description
This is a still from a animation i made to test my skills at particle effects and dynamics. The boat is animated riding the waves as the camera follows it. It then finally comes to a still around a floating 'boy'. All the floting objects animate realistically with dynamics. I just thought i would show all of ya a still from the animation.Related content

Really? Is it just a displacement mapped plane, then? It looks like it would be realwave. Did you make the texture yourself? It's wonderful! I'm not very good with particles, I'm afraid. This is very impressive to me!

Well, I made the ocean layer with Fluid effects that comes as part of Maya 5 Unlimited, I have access to this at work and its really cool. Basically it is a NURBS plane that has a displancement shader attached to it, which allows for control for a varity of attrabutes such as peaking, wave height etc. The colour shading is also part of this shader. I started with the default setting then ajusted it for my requirements. The backround clouds are also part of Maya fluid effects. I made the particles all from scratch with fields and goals. The film Perfect Storm inspired me for this. Hope this tells ya what you wanted to know, if now feel free to ask more questions
