Hey hey! Alrighty... let's see...
Thie is a pretty good design so far; I really like the exaggeration of the small waist and and the details you have on the gun, particularly the elbow joint. I could almost see this as being an articulated action figure. I feel as though this could go one of two ways: Either sharp and edgey like an Aeon Flux sort of design, or round and bublous, like a Mega Man X sort of design. You might want to push it in one direction or the other. ^_^
One thing that stands out to me is that it still feels organic and hand-made. This is because the various segments you used for the armor/exoskeleton have a lot of inconsistencies, like fingerprints and bumps and objects that should be rigid, like the bolts in the chest, curve around the form of the robot. If you have a small loop tool, I would suggest that you get in there and smooth/sharpen those shapes on the surface and clean the joints. After that, use a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol with a soft brush or your finger to burnish away some of the last bumps and the like. If you don't have fancy-schmancy sculpting tools, even trimming some of the excess clay with an X-acto or working this with a toothpick would really help to sharpen it up lots.
I'll keep an eye out for the next installment of this guy, thanks so much for thinking of me for a crit. ^___^
And no, it's not cold here yet; it's actually that *perfect* Indian Summer weather. Ask me again in a month when I am scraping frost off of my windshied...

thanks Steph!
hey your name is one of those word where it stops making sense if you say it 4 or 5 times
well lets see, thanks for the tips, they are really helping so far. I would have never known about the alcohol, it works awesome for removing bumps and things without displacing a bunch of clay
I got some tools, including these silicon things called clay shpers, they rock if you have never tried em
I think I am going for more of a sharp edge style for this guy.
what would you recommend for painting this dude?
thanks again for your help, it was killer of you

Oh, one other thing; the posture checks out as ok so far. It looks a *little* like he isn't carrying much weight in the frontal pose, but that could just be the angle. If you could, take a good profile shot of him to show were his feet are planted

yeah, I added a little bit more forward direction to him, but I made sure his center of gravity works out and his feet are shoulder width apart.. I'll make sure to post some profile pics of him before the firing
to you
