Have an order in place, though it wasn't generated from DA. My print account has helped out though. I'll be letting all of you know when the sales close! It will be time to celebrate !!!

I live in Alaska, I spend most of my time helping my better half at a bodyshop, and I never really know what our schedule is going to be. I choose this life. I love the flexibility, and freedom. I love that we get to spend nearly every waking moment together. He is my best friend, and we do best as a team.
To try promoting my work in a more traditional way would mean I'd have to give a lot of this up. It is not me. It's not my style. I'm not dressy, I'm not "ladylike". I can look VERY professional if I choose to, but I HATE being uncomfortable, and I hate being tied to someone else's schedule.
This is the only place online that I have chosen to present my work. As a result I have gotten three website projects, have two large prints likely sold, and have another big project in the works locally, based on one of my photos. I don't know how much bearing this site had on my clients' decision to use me, but I am sure it helped, since I was reffered to most of these clients by acquaintances who gave them my site as an example of my creativity.
It is also less expensive, and more convenient for me than lugging around a portfolio. My life is pretty busy, and complicated. My schedule varies to the extreme, and I couldn't keep a portfolio with me and keep it protected if I tried!
I hope this answered your question! Sorry about the lengthy wait for a response, and for the lengthy response, lol.

Good luck with it...
(my envy is showin.)
My Bro lives on Kauai! I miss the little #^$%.
He's a Carpenter. I think he's been there for close to three years now, at least. I have been keeping close to him by surfing online for images of life on Kauai, while he surfs the wickedest waves there. He's always been a daredevil. I've been tryin to get the twerp online, so I can get my ornery brother fix. He calls occaisionally with tales of climbing cliffs wiith rainbow centipedes, living with freshwater shrimp critters, spiny pufferfishes, lizards, spiders, and a myriad of banana flavors.
...I'm off daydreaming again. Life sounds good there, except for the nasty spidery creeps. Ugh! [shudders]
I can't wait 'til I get to go visit him. He's rotten, but I love him SO much!

Funny I have heard so many great things about Alaska but its never made it to me top ten list. Kauai is a lil on the boring side but has been a great place to raise kids. A few more years of that. Who knows it might be time to pull up stakes.

$150.00 a month for the AC in the computer room? Yikes. There are always tradeoffs for every single choice we make, aren't there? It's all a matter of what's important to us. It would be nice to live somewhere cool in the summer and go to Hawaii for the winter. THAT would be Paradise.
