Description Naturally, this isn't everyone's cup of tea. But it is mine

At the highest point of a certain mountain in the Sierra Nevada mountain range lies Inspiration Point.
And it comes with the following story...

For many many years, this hilltop was a well-loved hiking destination, particularly for the Christian population. Many loved to take solitary hikes to its peak, to enjoy nature and meditate/pray at this cross. Back then the view wasn't quite as nice as it was largely shut in by trees, but everything was still lovely.
Then, 20 years ago, a huge wildfire ravaged the mountain. Flames were everywhere, and everyone was forced to evacuate. Residents begged to go up to Inspiration Point, in order to rescue the cross...but firefighters absolutely forbade them, stating they could get themselves killed and the cross was probably already burned anyways.
After the fire, these people hiked up, expecting the worst.

All trees surrounding the cross were burned to the ground, and the rocks on with it stands were black with soot. And yet, the cross had received absolutely no fire damage.

I love this story, and I love this cross.
I find Inspiration Point to be the most peaceful place in the world.

This weekend I got up at 5:30 and hiked up, in order to capture the sunrise.
It was a breath taking sight.

I hope I captured some of that

I would really appreciate some of your comments and opinions, even if you don't happen to agree with some of my views.

Really beautiful image, great composition, and perfect light!

I think this would sell very good on stock photography sites. Lots of churches and things like that would be interesting in buying it.

(I've just been looking into selling images as stock recently, need some cash!)

It is a beautiful picture and a lovely story, though unless the cross was far enough away from the fire due to being surrounded by rocks, I would doubt it is true. But it was definately worth getting up early for! The bit of red sun slanting across the rocks is fantastic.

This particular spot is 7000ft above sea level. I am not quite sure how that translates, from meters, but I am guessing it is somewhat close
