Awww, what an adorably sweet way to end the year. The supermodel and the gymnast found love (or maybe a few glasses of friendship lubricant). The question remains, though: when they wake up, whose dream was this? Dashie? Flutters? That notorious ship-fic writer Twilight?
I know you said this was quick and spontaneous, but I like the sketchy quality here. It keeps the focus on the feels conveyed by the poses and expressions. Β To me, it feels like someone thinking back on a memory: "I couldn't tell you what color the wallpaper was, or what scarf I was wearing, but I'll never forget the smell of her shampoo or the thrilling helplessness of when she gently pinned me down under her towering frame. That's when I realized that being small can have its benefits, too."

Personally I value sketches above all else when it comes to art, it's the most undiluted form of an artist's vision. Sadly this isn't a view that is shared with the general public, and to most a sketch is simply something unfinished. Thanks for enjoying, I hope to keep improving my sketches to the point people will love them as much as I do!

I'm with you there. In America, at least, there is certainly a pervasive "more is more" mindset about most things. A phone camera needs lots of pixels, even if it's only used to photograph food with poor lighting and posting to Twitter. A car needs a high top speed, even though the driver would never come close to reaching it. Or, to quote an old episode of the Dilbert cartoon about art (S2E03): "if the price is the same, I like bigger art". (www.toon.is/dilbert-2x03-art-v⦠at 07:34)
I'm not an artist, but I think I know what I like. To me, the choice of medium and style are as important as the choice of subject matter. For example, if you are creating something to be put in a frame and hung on a wall, then a detailed, high-DPI realistic or painterly approach might be appropriate. But a web comic or something that is high-action or dialog-driven would probably benefit from a less-detailed approach. Knowing what to leave out, either because it is distracting or just unnecessary is an under-appreciated skill.
As a beginner, one starts out with a minimalist style out of necessity as one learns to wield a pen or brush. Later, with details mastered, one learns to wield the eraser (physical or mental), no longer out of necessity, but with intent. After learning out what to put in, then one learns what to leave out.
