it depends on the program used i think

for non-flash programs like Photoshop, gimp, sai - i think you use the layers and compile them into a gif type thingy (i think)  - there is most likely a YouTube vid on how to do it 

note: once again not saying you have to do it - just saying it would be awesome and that is the way i picture it in my mind - lol 

also note - if you learn how you can also animate your icon that way ( i think) and have animation in future comic pages even if it is just something minor like shimmering eyes for extra cuteness overload

heh, well I'd work with someone if they wanted to help animate my stuff, but after several failed attempts at animation over the years I think I'lll leave it to the pros ;D

Correct.
The word 'mite' in this context refers to a very small copper coin that was in circulation in the 17th century.  The only reason the word stayed in the language was the use of the term in the King James bible, in the story of the widow's mite.  Outside that one context, the only surviving meaning of 'mite' is a very tiny insect.

During the 19th century, the biblical term came into broader use in the american south as a vernacular term for "a very small amount".

Really? The phrase doesn't come from the insect? I never had any reason to suspect there even existed another definition of "mite."
