Ray: One of the scariest aspects in the world is having a deadly hunter from another world after your head, be it for glory or for money. And these two are some of the most feared hunters in science fiction…

Steel: Boba Fett, Star Wars’ infamous bounty hunter…

Ray: And the Predator, the lethal alien slaughterer.

Steel: I’m Steel and he’s Ray…

Ray: And it’s our job to analyze the weapons, armor, and skills of these two warriors to find out who would win a DEATH BATTLE.

--

BOBA FETT…
First Appearance: The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978)
Height: 6’
Weight: 172lbs
Ethnicity: Mandalorian (cloned)
Occupation: Bounty Hunter
Theme:

FEATS…
Took up his father’s armor and legacy
Regularly employed by the Galactic Empire
-Sometimes called Vader’s “right hand man”
Escaped the Sarlacc pit
-Only person to have done it
-Killed the Sarlacc while he was at it
Fought Darth Vader in a lightsaber duel and held his own

Ray: Boba Fett was the cloned son of the infamous bounty hunter, Jango Fett. Unlike other clones of Jango, though, Boba had no physical augmentation and no growth acceleration. He would age and develop like an average human being.

Steel: But after dear ol’ dad got decapitated by Master Windu, Fett decided to become a hunter himself (after a failed assassination of Mace). He took up his father’s armor, spaceship, and weaponry, and by the age of thirteen, had officially become a Mandalorian man and a true bounty hunter.

Ray: Boba wears Mandalorian Armor modeled after his father’s and it’s safe to say that this armor is nothing short of a technological wonder.

Steel: The helmet itself has built-in HUD, infrared vision, intercept and scramble communications, filter poisons and contaminants, and magnify sounds so that he can hear a whisper from 100 meters away! I now know what I want for Christmas! WHERE CAN I GET ONE?!

Ray: Fett’s armor consists of plate armor made of duraplast and, underneath is a special lightweight armor that can absorb blows. It can dull the force of laser blasts (though it cannot completely neutralize it), protect him from blunt trauma and resist being knocked over, and makes him highly resistant to extreme heat and cold.

ARMOR…
Mandalorian design
-Indicated by T-shaped visor
Helmet
-Multiple features
-Heads’ Up Display
-Infrared vision, sound amplification, vision magnifier
Plate armor
-Made of durasteel
-Very durable
Light armor
-Resistant to blunt trauma and blaster fire
-Reduces effects of intense heat and cold

Steel: And what kind of bounty hunter doesn’t come in with equipment and weapons? A very STUPID one, that’s what! He has a handy jetpack that can allow continuous flight for a full minute. His trusted arm is his E-33 Blaster Carbine, which has a scope for sniping, is more powerful than a Stormtrooper’s blaster rifle, a draw-ready sling to carry it on, and he cradles it like a newborn baby. I’m sure he even sleeps with it under his pillow…just like me.

Ray: I’d say I’m surprised, but I hate lying. Fett also carries weapons on several compartments on his armor. His gauntlets house a flamethrower, a fibercord whip to entangle foes, a blaster in mentioned gauntlet comparable to his own carbine, and an assortment of rocket launchers. A single anti-vehicle rocket can be launched from his jetpack while a series of smaller rockets can be fired from his gauntlets or knee armor.

Steel: Plus, while ranged combat is more of Fett’s bread and butter, he will occasionally use a close-quarter blade-like weapon. It will be either a lightsaber taken from a Jedi’s dead hands or a vibroblade, which can block lightsabers and cut with almost as much ease.

WEAPONS/EQUIPMENT…
Jetpack
-Can go up to a full minute of continuous flight
-Increases jumps
-Can launch a single anti-vehicle rocket
E-33 Carbine
-Stronger than stormtroopers’ blasters
-Sniping scope and carrying sling
Fibercord whip
-Up to 20 meters long
-Used to entangle foes
-Usually a grappling hook
Wrist-mounted weapons
-Blaster fire comparable to his carbine’s (max range 50 meters)
-Miniature rocket launcher
Kneepad weapons
-Darts
-Small explosives
Melee weapons
-Lightsaber (stolen from a dead Jedi)
-Vibroblade (can block lightsabers, good cutter via hi-speed vibrations in blade)
-Used only in tight pinches

Ray: While Fett is definitely one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy, he tends to be a victim of circumstance. He was knocked into the Sarlacc on pure ACCIDENT when Han jammed a pole into his jetpack.

Steel: His armor is tough, but his weapons and equipment aren’t as fortunate. What kinda sense does THAT make?

WEAKNESSES…
Somewhat accident-prone
Weapons aren’t as durable as armor
No formal training since his father’s death

Ray: Despite all this, Fett lived on to live up to his infamy. He is an accomplished hunter, tracker, and fighter. How good a fighter is he? He held his own against DARTH VADER in a lightsaber duel.

Steel: Of the many people you would want chasing you, Fett is one of the LAST people you’d want after your head…unless you’re Samus Aran, where you can simply blow his head off.

(Darth Vader: I see why they call you the best bounty hunter in the galaxy.)

--

THE PREDATOR…
First Appearance: “Predator” (1987)
Height: At least 7’
Weight: 330lbs
Ethnicity: Yautja
Occupation: Hunter
Theme:

FEATS…
Killed an entire special forces squadron
-Killed all but one man
Lived a life of pain and devotion
Actively hunted Xenomorphs
Tanks gunfire with minimal injury

Steel: O-kay, I take back what I said. THIS GUY might be a little scarier than his opponent.

Ray: In the vast reaches of space dwells the Yautja, an alien race that follows a very savage cult. Mentioned cult traverses the cosmos in search of dangerous beasts, all for the same reason.

Steel: HUNT THEM DOWN AND SKIN THEM! THAT is some serious devotion.

Ray: While they tend to vary movie-to-movie, their feats and movesets tend to be similar. Possibly the most imposing thing about a Predator is its size and physique. They can shatter concrete with a punch, tear people in half with their bare hands, move with surprising agility, survive falls from ten times their height without scratch, and leap three times their height.

Steel: Think you can just pull a handgun and save yourself? NOPE. These guys have taken bullets in the past and walked off with only minor injuries.

PHYSIQUE…
Superhuman strength
-Can shatter concrete
-Tears people to pieces
-Out-muscles most conditioned men
Fast and nimble
-Can clamber through trees and across rooftops in pursuit of prey
Jumping ability
-Can leap 3x their height
-Can survive a fall 10x their height
Durability
-Can survive gunfire pretty easily

Ray: As if this outer-space beast couldn’t get even scarier, he has high-tech equipment and weaponry at his disposal like the infamous cloaking device. This device renders the Predator invisible to the naked eye and most cameras. If one looks closely enough, though, they might spot its outline as it moves across different backgrounds.

Steel: That mask the Predator wears is also jam-packed with stuff, triggers to weapons, see low infrared to high ultraviolet, and even shoot lasers. Their gauntlets allow them to access their stealth systems, have medical supply units, a 3D mapping device, and even a self-destruct button.

Ray: Yes, if a Predator is near death or senses defeat, it will consciously activate a self-destruct sequence to give itself an “honorable” suicide with the hope that it will take its opponent with it.

Steel: The explosion will either annihilate 300 city blocks or just vaporize the predator. It’s kinda inconsistent in that because, if that were true, Arnold Schwarzenegger must be Sonic the freakin’ hedgehog to clear the blast radius in just a few seconds.

GEAR AND ARMOR…
Face Mask
-Mimics voices
-Can see low infrared and high ultraviolet
-Can shoot a laser (not often used)
Gauntlet
-Medical supplies
-3D Mapping device
-Self-destruct device

Ray: Moving on to weapons…

Steel: OOH! Favorite part!

Ray: The Predator’s primary method of ranged warfare is the Plasma Caster. Mounted on the user’s shoulder, it is aimed and fired via the predator’s mask.

Steel: How the heck do you press buttons inside your ma-

(Predator’s true face showing jaw extensions, fangs, and tusks)

Steel: WHOA! Never mind!

Ray: The plasma caster fires a single bolt of blue energy that can kill a full-grown man with just one hit. But if that doesn’t work, it can usually rely on the Smart Disk. This self-guided whirling death-dealer is thrown like a discus and can decapitate a human being with ease.

Steel: Yet despite all of this high-tech weaponry, Predators aren’t afraid of using more primitive weapons to beat the ever-loving crap out of potential prey. They’ll make use of nets, extendable spear-like combi sticks, retractable daggers, and their signature not-quite-as-awesome-as-Wolverine’s claws.

WEAPONS…
Plasma Caster
-Mounted on shoulder
-Fired and aimed via mask
-Can kill an unarmored man in one hit
Combi Stick
-Resembles a spear
-Extendable and retractable
Smart Disk
-Self-guided razor-disk
-Easily decapitates humans
Wrist Blades
-Twin claws mounted on gauntlets
-Can be fired (last resort only)
Scimitar
-Single blade
-Long as Predator’s leg
-Affected by cloaking device

Steel: WHAT AN ARSENAL? What can stop this guy?!

Ray: Quite a few things, actually. First and foremost is that the Predator doesn’t wear much armor. They wear their mask, some armor on their arms and legs, and that’s about it. Also, if its ranged weapons are out of the question, it will remove its mask and hope its foe will engage it in close-quarters combat.

Steel: So, it’ll remove what little armor it has for a fair fight? That sucks.

Ray: Plus, the Predator is a hunter and heavily relies on stealth to kill its prey. If it’s spotted, its entire game might be thrown off.

WEAKNESSES…
Heavily reliant on stealth
Honor Code
-Will take off mask if it wants a hand-to-hand fight
Little armor
-Mask and arm guards are about it

Steel: Still, if you’re tough enough to take tank fire and can give Schwarzenegger a run for his money, I think predators are versatile enough.

Ray: They sure are. Fett had better watch himself.

(Scharzenegger: GOOO!!! RUUUUN! GET TO THE CHOPPA!!!)

I would've prefered Boba fett vs. Scarface(Predator concrete jungle). But it's still a good death battle.

which predator did you use?

Seeing Bobba Fett's arsenal, this actually may be a tight fight for the Predator. My personal pick for his opponent would be Wolf, the elite Predator from AVP2: Requiem, packed with 2 Plasma Casters, a series of lasernets, and most prominentely, the ironhard whip that is resistant to acid. From what I've seen, I'd change my bet: instead of "Predator wins", put it on "Bobba Fett looses". That way I can walk away with a won bet even in a draw.

My word, man, you're just pumping these out on an assembly line? Bloody quick.

On topic:

The Predator's main weakness is it's inane honour code, the sort of stupidity that would get one killed in - say - Game of Thrones. Pragmatic opponents (like Fett) would take advantage of it in an instant. What's worse, is that Yautja only do this when a prey has impressed them enough to warrant such respect… and this is Boba Fett, the top of the badass food chain in the Star Wars universe, that is guaranteed for a Yautja to indulge in that macho bullshit.

So if it were to do just that… Boba would just shoot him. Or set a trap. Or stab him with a lightsaber. Or blow it all to hell with a missile.

Still, their respective weapon variety does at least keep both on an even keel, both are nicely balanced against the other… but, again, the honour code will be more of a hindrance than a benefit.

"He held his own against DARTH VADER in a lightsaber duel."
You mind if I call BS on that story and deride it as a case of Fett's popularity influencing it since there's never any hints of him getting anything close to formal sword training, even if he still lost.
So, Fett might actually be able to break his losing streak (seriously, every time I've seen in a Death Battle or Deadliest Warrior so far he's lost). The Predator can shake off modern weapons, but guns in the Star Wars universe pack a lot more punch, while its strength would likely allow it to win in close quarters, Fett isn't going to let it get there.

Boba Fett has infrared vision and the Predator heavily relies on stealth... I may know who will win.

Hmmm....I wonder if Fett would be able to tank that blast from the Predator's suicide attack...if not, and Fett gains the upper hand, this just might end in your very first draw....

The Predator got better weapons, but Fett has better armor, I think.

Didn't you do this in Deadliest Warrior: Ray's Edition?

Not complaining, loved that fight.

I'm going to have to give it to Boba Fett. The Mandalorians are great fighters, and while the Predator does have interesting weapons, the armor Boba sports can protect from any attack. On a different note, this reminds of something else you did, in Deadliest Warrior fashion.
