The background of this shot is what makes it stick out. The colors remain vibrant inspite of the blur and really draw attention to the entire piece even though the flower is the central focus. Wonderful composition and creatively done.

It's like a faery-tale! Now all we need is the glass spires of a castle in the distance... Also i like the colors in the pic.

This is a fantastic shot. Great composition. The tulip in the foreground is in perfect focus, and the background is colorful but not overly busy. Great DOF as well. Well done.

Thanks! Indeed, the DOF is perfect on this one. But it's a bit too dark overall. Too much shadows. The lighting was too direct.

I really like this shot! It looks almost surreal. The depth of field is excellent and the colors are very vivid!

Thanks. They're quite different this time. I preferr part IX, however, almost every commenter preferrs part VIII. What a dilemma!

I like this one the best out of the series. I especially appreciate your control of the focus and depth of field. The only small (very small) annoyance is the way the stem of the tuplip blends in with the grasses in the background. This seems to be a bit of a change again in your subject matter - I can't talk though, I wander all over the place with what I photograph!!

I see what u mean. Actually there was a lot more grass before, I rarefied it with my hands, but I guess I wasn't thorough enough. The scene took place in my grandma's garden, the very corner of it, I had my back against the fence and a couple of weird looks on my back from the neighbours what the hell am I doing crouching in the corner below the cherry tree surrounded by tall nefarious... (I hope I used the correct terms... )

This one's better than Essence Part IX
The composition is great, and the flower leaning towards the part of the sky that's in view gives a really nice overall look.

However, I like part IX better. The blurred color-orgy in the BG and the 100% sharp tulip in the right third makes it more pleasing to me. I can't help, I like simple things better. (well, at least visually)

Lovely composition... I like the background being a little darker... Makes the tulip pop more... And it's not too dark to still see details... Very nice job indeed!

Thanks! The polarizing filter helped me a lot to get the most detail from the strongly lit tulip, while darkening the BG, esp. the sky for this contrast.

velem is előfordul

DimensionSeven In reply to copiapoa [2005-05-15 12:45:00 +0000 UTC]

the depth of the shot is great, though it could probably be improved by an increase in brightness

I think it has a perfect exposition, more exposure would have overexposed the tulip. Is your monitor calibrated? Maybe it's set too dark.
