PS6: crop A LOT, minor brightness/contrast and saturation adjustments (including minor 0-1,10-255 levels on green), NeatImage, resize, frame, type.
Edit 04.02.: sharpened the padlock manually a bit. It was needed, sorry.
Edit 07.13.: recut from the base photo, using the submitted version as a reference. I used Noise Ninja this time with -16 strenght on luminance instead of that sh1tty NeatImage. Now it's got more details without sharpening and it's a bit bigger as well.

Hm, én arra gondolnék, hogy 18 év, mint a felnőtté válás pillanata, amikor a gyerekkor kötöttségeiből, mikor a felnőttek mondják meg, mit szabad, és mit nem, újfajta kötöttségek lesznek uralkodóak. De ábrázolhatja a felnőtté válás előtti pillanatot: a fiatal lelket, aki már alig várja, hogy a bűvös számot elérve kitörhessen a börtönéből, az ég felé.

A függőleges vonalak amolyan évgyűrűk, a fogantyú a dolgok saját kézbe ragadását jelké.pezi, a lakat viszont az egész pozitív perspektívát áthúzza egy tollvonással: csak hitted, hogy szabad leszel, és más lesz az életed, most jönnek csak az igazi kötöttségek...

From what I can see, the padlock and the number make me think of cages, and being given a number. Like a prison.

'18' is such a secksay number....i love the minimalism in this (and also the touches of geometrics - what with the lines on the backdrop)
and the green and white gives it this really open, lively, vibrant feel...then your eyes land on the lock...

I know I am absoloutly wrong about the meaning behind this, but the first thing that came into my mind when I saw this, was a locked horse door. You know, one of those that a horse stands behind before a race. Locked, to keep the stallion behind it "safe" or trapped?
Ahah, of course, I know that I am wrong, I have already read your true meaning, but I just wanted to give my imput, and what first came into my head when I saw it :3
I really like the colours of this, the original symbolism, and the fact that the main focus, the number 18, is not centred in the photo. It looks very well to the left :3

Yes, I bought myself a house (no. 18 in our street) with a garage, painted the door green, and bough a red lock to match the door. After the shot was taken I sold the whole thing and made a fortune out of it.
