A month or so before spring break, I asked to bring in her Neon Genesis Evangelion DVDS, because I've been wanting to watch it. I refrained from watching this anime for the looooongest time because I heard a lot of bad things about it's ending and I dislike it when an ending is unsatisfying. I still really wanted to watch it though and finally said "FUCK THIS, ILL WATCH IT ANYWAY."So I watched the series in about a week with her aaaaaand I really fucking liked it okay, maybe not the ending, but that was expected But the concept and animation was cool. I did end up liking the characters for how fucked up they were too.
A few days ago I was watching Rebuild of Evangelion: You Can (Not) Advance and I personally like it a bit more than the series right now...I think the characters are much more interesting; their relationships with one another are better in my opinion. Shinji and Asuka are still Shinji and Asuka, but they are more likable in Rebuild in my opinion. Rei...SHE'S DEVELOPING A PERSONALITY? FEELINGS?WHAT?? Yeah, I also like Rei a bit better in this; she just kind of scared me in the original series. Mari is also pretty cool...UH, I'm starting to ramble.
Well I always thought Asuka was an interesting character, even before Rebuild. I tend to like characters with an elitist/bitchy type of personality. Oh, and did I mention she has the coolest Eva and can kick ass? Because she can kick ass.
I don't feel like I got her down as well as I wanted to in this picture, I mean yes it is meant to be my style, but there's something lacking in the likeness (appearance) of the character . Eh, I don't know. LAZY BACKGROUND IS LAZY.
Mari fanart is next, then maybe Shinji...I dunno might just be unit 01 instead, haha. Probably gonna submit this to a club later. :0

I think she looks like even more of a typical teenager here more than the LOL ANIME GIRL type, though, too. Very interesting. But I haven't watched much of any kind of Evangelion, so I can't speak to her personality that well.
Do you recommend Rebuild over the series, then?

And yes. I, personally, would recommend watching the Rebuild Evangelion Movies over the series (though the series explains more, it tends to drag on and the characters are also less likable. That's just my opinion though.

After re-watching the series last month myself (for the seventh time, I kid you not), I have to agree... I like the characters in the Rebuilds more than I did in the series. I think in the series, they were more extreme - Shinji was whinier, Asuka was more tempermental and violent, Rei was less of an entity, etc. It made them feel almost more like caricatures of people, even though they did get a lot of development. I like the Rebuilds because now I can actually stand Shinji enough to view him as a protagonist. XD Although, it's really really really hard to beat the End of Evangelion movie for sheer epicness. If you didn't see End of Eva after the series, you haven't seen the full series. End of Eva is laid out as a replacement for episodes 25 and 26 (although I like to think of it more as a supplement). It shows you what actually led up to Shinji's giant headtrip, and holy shit is it insane.

Yeeeessss, the characters seem more human in Rebuild; we can relate to them more. I also kind of like that they took out a lot of the loooong scenes or mental trips, like with Shinji on the train, Rei and Asuka on the elevator heading to what seems to be the millionth floor, and the amazingly long time it took Shinji to finally kill Kowaru. I know they're all important and psychological and all that, but they did it waaaaay too often.
And yup! I did also see the movie, my roommate actually showed it to me instead of the actual last two episodes (we still saw the last two original episodes, but it was after watching the movie).

I do think it was a pretty awesome movie, but there were still somethings I wish were resolved or better, I guess.
I just have a preference to stories with happier resolutions so it's probably just me being biased, aha XD

Ahhh, this is so cool. I think you got the right amount of "bitchy elitism" to her, alright. I really like her expression. She looks really cool in your style. I actually like the background. It's really atmospheric and fitting.
